Patrick Roy's Son Pleads Guilty To Assault

"The son of NHL great Patrick Roy has pleaded guilty to assault over an on-ice beating. Jonathan Roy pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Quebec court and offered a $5,000 check to charity. Patrick Roy was standing behind the bench when his son, a goalie with the Quebec Remparts, skated across the rink in a junior game in March 2008 to pummel the opposing goalie (ESPN)."

Wow what a badass. I love it when goalies skate all the way across the ice to fight the other goalie, because you know there is no reason why they are fighting other then some of their teammates are. Think about it...they never see each other (unless before a game), they couldn't be further apart, yet they dart out of their end and attack the other goalie......FANTASTIC!!!

Patrick Roy Turns Down Colorado Coaching Job

"Hall of Famer Patrick Roy has turned down an offer to coach the Colorado Avalanche. Roy phoned Avalanche president Pierre Lacroix late Tuesday night to tell him he won't accept the team's offer to coach the team because of family reasons, a spokeswoman for the junior league club Roy co-owns and coaches told the Associated Press (Sportsline)."

Basically he doesn't want to leave Canada. Roy wants to eventually take over the Canadiens head coaching job, but there is no news yet if it will be offered to him. For now he will continue to coach the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where Roy is also general manager. I really wish he would have taken the Avalanche job, because it might have been enough to keep Sakic (on of my favorite players) for another year.

Patrick Roy To Coach Colorado?

"Patrick Roy may return to Colorado as the head coach of the Avalanche and has already earned the endorsement of legendary bench boss Scotty Bowman. "I think he has enough experience now and deserves an opportunity," Bowman, the winningest NHL coach of all time told the Denver Post. "I know he has the passion to coach. He's done a good job in junior (ESPN)."

I would love this. Patrick Roy is one of (if not the) best goalie I have ever seen. If he does get the job he has a lot of work to do. The Avalanche were horrible last year, and a big reason for that was their goaltending. Peter Budaj and Andrew Raycroft are both terrible, so Roy is going to need to find someone that can bring back this team from the bottom. Hopefully is Ray takes this job Sakic will come back, and I also hope he can't find a goalie and just makes himself a player coach...yea that's the world I want to live in...
