Ty Law Making Another Comeback?

"Ty Law isn't quite ready to retire from playing, and he'd be open to returning to any of a certain group of teams, according to the Boston Herald. Law obviously counts the New England Patriots amongst those teams, but it's not clear whether the feeling of admiration is mutual. The 35 year-old told the Herald that a seven-game cameo with the New York Jets last season gave him confidence that he's still got what it takes to compete. "It re-energized me to want to play again because I was thinking retirement and going on to my post-career," he said. "I actually had fun playing, and just when I got into the swing of it, the season came to an end down the stretch." Law is not likely to start, but could provide a boost as a situational player for the right team (ESPN)."

I get fooled by the every year. Every year I think he is coming back to the Patriots, but it never happens. Law is one of my favorite players ever, but I just don't think he has very much left in the tank. Some team will take a chance on him, but I doubt very much it will be the Patriots...

Jets Sign Ty Law

Ty Law has just signed with the New York Jets. There are even reports coming out that he will play against the Patriots on Thursday. I really thought that if Law was going to come back, that the Patriots would sign him, though I have read a lot of reports that say he is in terrible shape. The Jets plan to use him as a CB, and sometimes even at safety. I don't know how much he has left in the tank, but I really wanted to see the Patriots make some kind of move to add depth to the CB position. Now they have missed out on Hall, and Law within a week.

Ty Law To Patriots?

Yesterday I reported that Fernando Bryant had been cut by the Patriots and that they may have done it to make room for the return of Ty Law. It is unclear if the Patriots have talked to Law, but the 34 year old conerback has some questions surrounding him. Last year was the worst year of Law's career as he only had 2 interceptions in 16 games for the Chiefs. It has also been reported that Law was contacted by the Browns and he wanted "starter level" money, so it is not clear whether the Patriots would be willing (or able) to give Law that kind of money. The good news is that Law has not missed a game since he left the Patriots, and for a team that seems to have injured conerbacks every week, it would be a welcomed change.
