Pistons Sign Gordon and Villanueva

"The Detroit Pistons made the biggest early splash in free agency on Wednesday, agreeing to terms with Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. Former Bulls guard Gordon will receive a five-year deal for between $55 million and $60 million, while former Bucks forward Villanueva gets a five-year deal for $40 million, sources told ESPN.com's Chris Broussard (ESPN)."

Well this is the first big splash of the NBA free agency period. The Pistons become flat last season, and really tanked it at the end getting swept by the Cavaliers, so a shake up of the team was expected. The good news for the Pistons is that this could be just the beginning. They have over $25 million dollars in expiring contracts going into the 2010 offseason. That is big since it is anticipated that LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will all be free agents then.

Gordon Out Tonight?

Finally it looks like the injury bug has bitten someone other then the Celtics...

"Gordon, however, did not sound so certain. The Bulls' sharpshooter took a pain-killing shot on Sunday, had swelling on Monday and said today that he is not moving well. He didn't participate in the Bulls' shootaround at Emerson College this morning. Gordon, who is treating the injury, a Grade 2 strain, with ice and electrical stimulation, said he is going to test his leg during pregame to see what he is able to do. On the possibility of playing tonight, he said, "It's still pretty bad. I don't know. I'm looking for a miracle (Boston.com)."

What a boost for the Celtics if this asshole can't play. He has been lights out this series, and just make some shots that I still don't understand. DP will have the preview later, and let you know if he is going to try and play, but right now it certainly sounds like he is not going to be much of a factor...

Down Goes Gordon?

"Bulls guard Ben Gordon was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday after straining a hamstring in the first half of Sunday's double-overtime victory over the Boston Celtics in Chicago. "I was driving and I heard something pop," said Gordon, who incurred the injury while shooting in the second quarter. "It's sore; hopefully it's not too serious. I'm going to do what I need to do (ESPN)."

This guy has been unreal. He hits shots I don't think Kobe could hit. So, this would be huge if he is going to be out. The Bulls seems like they just pull games out of their ass, but the C's have been there every game to win. If Pierce could hit his important free throws then this series would already be over. Anyways, we'll keep you updated on the Gordon injury. The next game is tomorrow at 7pm.

Smooth Move Ex Lax

"Chicago guard Ben Gordon accepted the Bulls' one-year, $6.4 million tender offer just before the deadline Wednesday night."

I like Ben Gordon, but he is what he is. Ben Gordan is bound for being a journeyman in the future. Gordon is a player who can give you instant offense but that's about it ala Ricky Davis. After turning down a 5 year, 50 million dollar deal last summer, he was forced to sign a 6.4 tender offer. Idiot.

Gordon Leaving Bulls?

Ben Gordon has been in contract negotiations with the Bulls for a long time now, and it seems like it is going no where. Ben Gordon has even come out and said "I guess it's safe to say I've played my last game in a Bulls uniform,". When asked if he thought he would be traded he responded "I'm pretty optimistic it'll happen. It's very likely." Personally I don't think this is the worst thing, because I believe Gordon is overrated, and if they can get some decent players in a trade it could actually help the Bulls.
