My Red Sox Offseason Plan

I'm sick of the Red Sox upper management blowing the past couple of years so here is what they are going to do this offseason.

Re-sign Victor Martinez
Pick Up Papi's option
Let Adrian Beltre walk

Then...
Sign Carl Crawford
Trade Clay Buchholz and a lower prospect for either Adrian Gonzalez or Prince Fielder
Sign Cliff Lee
And every Blue Jays reliever Jason Frasor, Scott Downs and Kevin Gregg

That's a wrap.

Line up

1. Carl Crawford
2. Kevin Youklis
3. Adrian Gonzalez/ Prince Fielder
4. David Ortiz
5. Victor Martinez
6. Dustin Pedroia
7. JD Drew
8. Marco Scurtaro
9. Jacoby Ellsbury

Rotation:
1. Jon Lester
2. Cliff Lee
3. Dice K
4. Josh Beckett
5. John Lackey

Bullpen:
Frasor, Downs, Gregg, Bard, Papelbon, Felix Doubront

Oh yea, this years World Series:

Yankees beat Minn
Rangers beat Rays

SF beats Atlanta
Philly beats Cincy

Rangers beat Yanks
SF beats Philly

Rangers beat SF

There you have it, write it down. If they don't spend over 175 million dollars this offseason it's a failure.

My Final Mock Draft

1. Lions: Matthew Stafford QB, Georgia. I don't like it, but everyone thinks they need a QB. Mark Sanchez and Josh Freeman both have the same amount of potential.
2. Rams: Jason Smith, OT, Baylor. They need it.
3. Chiefs: Aaron Curry, OLB, WF. I can never spell Chiefs right all the time. Good pick.
4. Seahawks: Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia. Would have liked them to take a chance with Crabtree, but a line is a good place to strengthen.
5. Browns: Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas. Hell of a pick. i think this kid as much of a defensive presence as Curry.
6. Bengals: Andre Smith, OT, Alabama. If the Bengals want Carson to be healthy they need this fat ass to protect him.
7. Raiders: Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech. Awesome pick. Solidifies Jemarcus Russell's pro bowl predictions.
8. Jaguars: Mark Sanchez, QB, USC. Need a replacement of David garrard. This pick pisses a lot of people off.
9. Packers: Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State. Need something for that terrible defense, so all the blame can be put on Aaron Rodgers for sucking it up.
10. 49ers: Everetter Brown, DE, Florida State. May be undersized but, has a motor like James Harrison.
11. Buffalo Bills: B.J. Raji, DT, BC. He will be a great NT for an up in coming Bills team.
12. Broncos: Larry English, OLB/DE, Northern Illinois. Hoping Raji fell but since he didn't they will take this versatile end.
13. Redskins: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU. His combine numbers weren't very good, butt hey need defensive help.
14. Saints: Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, Ohio State. Because who gives a shit about defense.
15. Texans: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC. They are due for a big season.
16. Chargers: Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss. Could have gone with a line backer, but they need to protect Rivers.
17. Jets: Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State. They need a qb, and Freeman has the boom potential.
18. Broncos: Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC. Again they need to bolster that defense.
19. Buccanears: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, OSU. He is the best player on the board and their defense is only getting older.
20. Lions: Peria Jerry, DT, Miss. Now they got their QB, they need to worry about defense,
21. Eagles: Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia. they really need another offensive threat that will make defenses commit to a legit ground game.
22. Vikings: Darrius Heyward Bey, WR, Maryland. Whoever will be the QB will be, at least they got a speed target,
23. Patriots: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC. Obvious linebacker help is needed.
24. Falcons: Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State. Even though they are saying to be interested in Tony Gonzales, I say they fix their problem here.
25. Dolphins: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois. Need defensive back help.
26. Ravens: Darius Butler, CB, UConn. Need to replace McAlister.
27. Colts: Robert Ayers, DE, Tenn. because if they draft an offensive player they need a kick in the nuts.
28. Eagles: Eben Britton, OT, Arizona. They got their runningback, now they need someone to protect them.
29. Giants: Hakeem Nicks, WR, UNC. Total Bust, but it is obvious Eli is nothing without a big WR.
30. Titans: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida. i would have gone with Kenny Britt here, but what do I know.
31. Cardinals: RB Donald Brown, RB, UConn. Edge sucks, Hightower sucks. Brown is the answer.
32. Pittsburgh: Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest. They secured their offensive line this offseason, so why not replace the missing Bryan McFadden.

If any of these are wrong I will be shocked. Let's see you beat this BMack.

My Half Assed Play-Off Predictions

Ok, 0-2 wasn't good yesterday, but I promise that I will bounce back like Juvenile today.

Eagles vs Giants
I like the Eagles in this one. I know I don't really go with trendy picks too much, but I really think the Eagles can pull this one out. McNabb has been on fire since the benching and the Eagles defense is ferocious. Eli Manning has struggled the past 4 games and I believe that will carry over. Also, it is really hard to beat people in your same division as well. Oh yea, the Giants runningback tandem of Earth, Wind and Fire is gay and that is the main reason I'm picking Philly.

Eagles: 28-21

Pittsburgh vs San Diego
San Diego's magic run is going to be over tonight. Pittsburgh's D is going to control S.D. run game and make Phillip Rivers have to win the game himself. Pittsburgh's offense gears on Willie Parker, and if Willie Parker can be healthy that will take a lot of pressure off Ben and the offensive line.

Pittsburgh 28-10

My Half Assed Play-Off Predictions

Ravens vs Titans
This game is going to be extremely physical. In this game you have two of the top defenses and two shitty offenses. People are seeming to be on the Ravens bandwagon saying that Flacco can get the job done, however, I think the rookie is going to be rattled. I see the Titans defense getting constant pressure on the rookie, making him uncomfortable in the pocket, and making him make mistakes. The Titans are the number 1 seed for a reason and today they will prove it.

Titans: 21-10

Cardinals vs Panthers
The surprising Cardinals take on the Panthers tonight. The key to this game is the Cardinals defense, if they play like they did against the Falcons, they have a shot. But if not, this game can get out of hand quickly. I think the Panthers are a better all around team than the Falcons, and that is why I believe they will win this game. Expect a big game from Chris Gamble on Steve Smith.

Panthers: 35-17

3-1 on the play offs

My Way Too Early Mock Draft

1. Detroit Lions- Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma-They really need a lot, but as you can see from Matt Ryan, you catch pass up on a potential franchise QB. Plus they need someone to throw to Calvin Johnson.(I would have picked Matt Stafford, but he sucked in the bowl game)

2. St. Louis Rams- Andre Smith, )T, Bama- Even though he was banned from the Sugar Bowl that shouldn't hurt his status that much. They missed on Michigan's Long last year and they desperately need offensive line help. Stafford would be intriguing, but the O-line is a more pressing need.

3. Kansas City Chiefs-Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas- Two months ago I would have said Stafford for sure, but after the way the gritty Tyler Thigpen played, I think Orakpo is the way to go. KC is rebuilding their defense and Orakpo would be a nice addition to solidify the you defensive line next to Glen Dorsey.

4. Seattle Seahawks-Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech- If he goes out, there is no doubt Michael Crabtree will end up here. The Seahawks need a big target for Matt Hasselbeck to get the ball to and Crabtree fits the mold. He is tall and has the best hands in this draft.

5. Cleveland Browns-Aaron Curry, OLB/ILB, Wake Forest-"Curry is emerging as the top overall linebacker in the 2009 class because of his combination of physical tools, toughness and leadership."ESPN And they need someone someone to be the face of their defense, because they have long missed that.

6. Cincinnati Bengals-Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss- Any team that lets up 50 sacked needs help and I believe Oher will be the pick. If they somehow still have wide receivers next year they will need someone to protect a healthy Carson Palmer. If not, welcome back Ryan Fitzpatrick.

7. Oakland Raiders-Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia- If Jemarcis Russell wants to develop into the pro-bowler I believe he will be next year, he will need someone to protect him. After Oher, Monroe isn't that far behind. People could argue they would need a wide receiver here, but there aren't any worthy with the 7 pick.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars-Jason Smith, OT, Baylor- I know this may get boring to you with picking 3 OTs in a row, but no team needs an offensive lineman more than Jacksonville. Their offensive line was decimated by injuries all year and Smith would definitely help clear the way for MJD and Fred Taylor.

9. Green Bay Packers-Gerald McCoy**, DT, Oklahoma- McCoy is another player that needs to make a decision to come out or not, but with the Packers defense being so terrible, they have to pick him here. Green bay couldn't stop anyone on the ground and McCoy has enough strength to disrupt a lot of plays. Malcom jenkins could be another option here.

10. San Francisco 49ers-Taylor Mays, S, USC - Mays would sure up that safety spot after SF basically had no one to cover all year. I'm not sold on Mays, but since he goes to USC he can't be bad.

11. Buffalo Bills-Jermaine Gresham*, TE, Oklahoma- I would like the Bills to pick a defensive player here, but their offense was so pathetic that they need some sort of impact player here. Gresham is a good blocker and a good pass catcher, it just happens that the Bills need both.

12. Denver Broncos- James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio State- I kind of think that the Broncos are going to do something foolish here like pick a RB, but Laurinatis has been a great LB his whole college career. They need someone to come up and stop the run and Laurenatis is your man. On paper, this defense shouldn't be this bad.

13. Washington Redskins-Eben Britton, OT, Arizona- This is another obvious pick here. The Redskins have major problems at that right tackle spot and Britton would sure up that spot and maybe push Portis to another MVP run.

14. New Orleans Saints-Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC- This would be an absolute steal if the Saints found themselves picking Maualuga at 14. in my eyes he is the best LB in the draft and would really improve a terrible Saints defense. if the Saints can somehow get Vilma back, this would be the start of a pretty good, young defense.

15. Houston Texans-William Moore, S, Missouri- Since Mays is off the board, Moore is the next best thing. Moore has the chance of stabilizing up that defensive secondary. This Moore pick is completely based if Dunta Robinson is brought back.

16. San Diego Chargers *-B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College- I like B.J. and believe he will be the next big defensive player. Raji plays with a certain ferocity that can only be matched with Ray Lewis. And with Merriman coming back it wouldn't help to protect him a little bit.

17. New York Jets-Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida- the Jets need a ILB and Spikes would slide into that quite nicely. The Jets had an up and down defensive year, but can never hurt to add a fast LB like Spikes.

18. Chicago Bears-Mark Sanchez, QB, USC- They are going to want to draft a defensive player, and they probably will, but they really need a QB. I like Kyle Orton but he isn't going to be able to get the job done. USC's Mark Sanchez proved all year that he can handle the pressure to quarterback USC and I know he will be able to at the next level. For everyones sake, Bears, please select a QB here.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia- This might be the biggest steal of the draft. Many will argue that Beanie Wells may be a better RB, but I think Moreno is the best in the country. Who knows how the clusterfuck of RB's will turn out in TB, so I say cut them all and get the best one in the draft.

20. Detroit Lions (from Dallas)-Vontai Davis, CB, Illinois- Vontai would have been a top 5 pick if he stayed in college one more year, but since he left a year early he dropped a little. Vontaie reminds me of Nate Clemens and believe he can be a premier CB, however, he will be stuck with the Lions for a little bit.

21. Arizona Cardinals *-Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State- I was torn between any defensive player and Wells, but I couldn't help myself. Edge already proclaimed himself out of Arizona once the year is done, so they will need to replace him and Tim Hightower isn't the answer. At the end of the day, this will really help the Cardinals offense become more balanced for Matt Leinart.

22. Philadelphia Eagles *-Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State- L.J. Smith disappoints everyone almost every year and it is time they sure up the TE spot. Pettigrew would be a good selection and help their offensive line as much as giving McNabb another option.

23. Minnesota Vikings *-D.J. Moore*, CB, Vanderbilt- The Vikings defensive line may be the best in the league, but their secondary continues to get torched each week. As much as I wanted to pull the trigger on Josh Freeman here, the Vikings need to get that secondary fixed.

24. New England Patriots-Brian Cushing, OLB, USC- It doesn't make much sense how the Patriots pick behind Zona, Philly, Minnesota and the Chargers, but they still get their guy here. Mike Vrabel isn't getting any younger and Cushing has been a hell of a LB for USC, so there is no reason to doubt he can do it on the pro level.

25. Atlanta Falcons *-Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama- This is another steal for the Falcons. Cody is a big boy and absolutely massive. he will be the cornerston for their defensive line and be good for years to come.

26. Miami Dolphins* -Victor Harris, CB, Virginia Tech- they were 19th against the pass and although they aren't bad it doesn't hurt to add more depth to your defensive secondary. Another option here would be Jeremy Maclin.

27. Baltimore Ravens *- Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri- The Ravens need a WR for Joe Flacco to develop a chemistry with and as much as I love the ageless Derrick Mason, he isn't getting any younger. Maclin is a big target and a game breaking WR. If the Ravens can scoop him up, this would be a huge boost for the sometimes docile ravens offense.

28. Philadelphia Eagles (from Carolina) *-Shonn Greene, RB, Iowa- this may be a reach here but I really believe in Greene to be the best RB in this class. he is a tough runner and has a nose for the endzone. The Eagles are missing a north/ south runner and Greene is the answer.

29. Indianapolis Colts * -Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss- Another year, more talk about the Colts rushing defense being terrible. Bob Sanders and Dwight Freeney can't do everything so, this is what they have to do.

30. New York Giants *-Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss- This pick depends on what happens with Kiwanuka once Umiuora returns. If they move Kiwanuka back to LB they will definitely take a DE here.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers *-Alex Mack, C, California- With all the top tackles and guards off the board, they pick the next best offensive lineman. Not only is Alex Mack a funny name, he will help a terrible Steelers offensive line.

32. Tennessee Titans *-Percy Harvin, WR, Florida- I don't know what to think of Harvin, but I know he is a game breaker. Vince Young is going to need a play making WR and Harvin will be there man. Unless Maclin is still on the board assume they will pick Harvin.

DP's Half-Assed Playoff Picks

Baltimore vs Miami
I think this one is an obvious one, however, yesterdays games were supposed to be obvious as well. As a Steelers fan I would love to see Miami take this one so we would face the Dolphins rather than the Chargers. However, the Ravens are too good of a team to lose to a silly team like the Dolphins. Their defense is a top 5 defense and they have a very strong running game. If the Ravens defense can control this game the Ravens will win this one easy.

Ravens 28-10

Philly verse Minnesota
I like Philly in this one for a couple of reasons. Philly has the ability to score points, they have a great secondary and their quarterbacks name isn't named Tarvarus Jackson. I like Jackson but he will not lead this team against a very quick Philly secondary. Other than the great defensive line, the Vikings secondary is questionable at best and McNabb should pick them apart and Westbrook should thrive on screen passes.

Philly 35-21

DP's Half-Assed Playoff Picks

Arizona verse Atlanta
Arizona sucks, Atlanta has Matt Ryan and I will root for him over Kurt Warner any day. Arizona has an explosive offense, but can't stop anyone. The mistake free Ryan with a heavy dose of Michael Turner should do the trick.

Atlanta 28-17

Indianapolis verse San Diego
I think that San Diego has the best chance to upset Indy as anyone. San Diego's defense has been much improved over the year, and are actually capable of holding their own. Phillip Rivers has had a hell of a year and even with LT banged up he has proved to rally the troops at the end of the year. If not for a slow start San Diego would be a favorite in this playoffs. However, the Colts have been on fire winning 9 straight and Manning has just won his 3rd MVP. So with that being said I am changing my original pick and I am smelling an upset.

San Diego 35-28
