Shocking News: Brandon Marshall Has Mental Problems

Brandon Marshall says he was diagnosed earlier this year with borderline personality disorder, which has been known to stem from things such as unstable personal relationships, a negative self-image and a fear of failure. He made the decision to go public with the issue to raise awareness, and says he plans to eventually lobby Congress for funding to assist research efforts.

Yea, no shit Marshall. We kind of picked up on that from your time in Denver. Like remember that time you went out to a club with your buddies Javon Walker and Darrent Williams? Then for some reason Williams got shot.

Remember that time you beat up your girlfriend resulting in the police being called on 11 different occasions? Remember that time you got a DUI?

How about later when you beat up your fiancee? Or how about that time when your girl finally had enough and stabbed you.

But yea, I guess this can all be explained because you have a "borderline" personality disorder. How about you just admit you're a douchebag that puts himself in terrible situations, and that you're a terrible person. Go to hell Marshall I refuse to feel bad for you.

Around The NFL (4 UPDATES)

The New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms of a trade that would send former Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush to Miami, according to FoxSports.com.

With the Saints gaining Mark Ingram and having pretty decent back ups (Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas). Miami has a few questions surrounding the RB situation Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown may not be back, so having a good receiving option can help alleviate some pressures.

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a five-year, $41 million contract with wide receiver Sidney Rice, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

A 6-4 WR never would hurt whoever is playing QB for Seattle.

***UPDATE***

We will do the same thing we did yesterday and just keep updating this post with all the moves made around the NFL...

- SF have told Nate Clements that he will released after not being able to work out a contract. Could be a nice fall back option for whoever loses out on Asomugha.

- Cardinals continue to try to rebuild that offense line scooping up fomer Packers offensive lineman Daryn Colledge for 5 years 27.5 million.

- Most people seem to think the Viking will heavily go after Braylon Edwards now that they lost Sidney Rice to the Seahawks.

- Steve Smith will no longer asked to be traded out of Carolina, which I think is a huge mistake on his part. Even with their draft and resignings by the time they are good he will be all washed up.

***UPDATE 2***

- Redskins have reached an agreement with former Cowboys DE Stephen Bowen (5 years $27.5 million $12.5 signing bonus). This could mean Cullen Jenkins could be making his way back to the Packers.

- Arizona Cardinals have asked Joey Porter to take a pay cut from his $5.75 milliion salary. If he declines, he'll be released.

***UPDATE 3***

- Kevin Kolb is about to traded to the Cardinals for Rodgers-Cromartie and a draft choice (rumored to be a 2nd round pick).

- Saints have signed IT Jermon Bushrod to a 2 year deal.

***UPDATE 4***

- Bills have signed WE Brad Smith to a 4 year $15 million deal.

- Kolb is getting a 5 year deal from the Cardinals worth $63.5 million, $21 guaranteed.

Bad Weekend For Brandon Marshall

While Boston got to sit back and watch the Bruins/Red Sox/Celtics kick ass all weekend, Brandon Marshall had a tough weekend getting stabbed in the stomach by his girlfriend...

"The Miami Dolphins and the rest of the NFL world were stunned over the weekend when news surfaced early on Saturday morning that WR Brandon Marshall had been stabbed and his wife had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Marshall is the victim in this instance but, based on his past, some Dolphins players weren't surprised trouble found Marshall, writes Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald (SBNation)."

Although it is hard to blame someone for getting stabbed Marshall has such a bad track record that I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this was at least in someway his fault. I mean should should never stab someone, but Marshall just always seems to be surrounded by trouble. The Dolphins have come out and said that they have no plans to cut Marshall, but that could change quickly as more and more information to come out.

As for Marshall, he should recover in 2-4 weeks, and be fine if camps ever start.

With The 15th Pick In The NFL Draft The Miami Dolphins Select Select....

DP's Pick:
Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama

I figure the Dolphins are going to lose both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown so Ingram is a guy who can come in and carry the ball 25 times a game. He has good hands and a great vision. He may not have homerun speed, but is extremely efficient. Watching him in college you can just see pro back in his game. He's tough, pretty durable and doesn't really have a glaring weakness. Great pick.

BMack's Pick:
Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama

I agree with DP that the Dolphins aren't going to bring Williams or Brown back, and the running game is such an important part of their offense they they have to make this pick. Ingram is a grinder, who I believe has the makeup to carry the load for an offense. He seems like the perfect fit for this offense, and I think we are far enough down the board where they would be comfortable making this pick. Now, if they could just find a good QB.

Patriots 38, Dolphins 7

This game felt like the preseason. Even the weather was warm, at least for January. There was nothing at stake, a few players didn't even dress (Welker, Branch, Hernandez), and the starters weren't expected to play the full 60 minutes.

I approved of Bill Belichick's usage of Tom Brady and other key players in this game. The more worrisome Pats fans out there were concerned that there'd be a repeat of last year's Welker injury. But with a first round bye secured, it's kind of silly to sit players for 3 weeks.

I'm sure the practices weren't as rigorous this past week. And when Brady was in the game, the play-calling was run heavy, and there were few long passes. He got hit a few times. But survived.

Danny Woodhead may have suffered a concussion. He may not have. As of now, the Pats are only saying he has a "head injury."

BJG Ellis surpassed the 1,000 yard mark. I'm convinced that Belichick went for it on 4th & 16, just so Ellis could reach 1,000, then be pulled from the game. Ellis is the Pats' first 1,000 yard rusher since Corey Dillon in '04. His contributions this season have been invaluable.

There were many positives to take from this game, but much like after a big preseason win, it's important to keep things in perspective. Julian Edelman's afternoon, for instance, was world class. Will he do that against an elite team, that's playing an important game? It's difficult to gauge performances in a game like this.

The Patriots have 2 weeks off, and will host a Divisional Round game on Sunday the 16th, at 4:30 PM. They'll play either the Jets, Ravens, or Chiefs. Here are the scenarios:

The Patriots will play the Jets if the Jets beat the Colts on Saturday. No matter what happens in the other AFC playoff game. If the Jets win, they come up to Foxborough as the 6th seed. Simple as that.

If the Jets lose, then the Patriots will play the winner of the Ravens/Chiefs game, which will be played Sunday afternoon.

Parcells Saves Tony Sparano's Job

"According to Michael Lombardi of NFL Network, he’ll remain in Miami because of the Big Tuna. Lombardi says Parcells, who stepped down from his post as the Dolphins’ football czar prior to the season, has convinced Ross to stick with Sparano (CBS Sports)."

There was a lot of talk that Sparano was going to be let go, but it seems (at least for now) he has been saved by his buddy Bill Parcells. Yet, we also found out today that the Dolphins are going to be looking for a Offensive Coordinator that has head coach experience. That leaves us with two obvious choices; Josh McDaniels, and Gary Kubiak if he is let go.

So, it seems Sparano will start the year as the head coach of the Dolphins, but he will be looking over his shoulder if one of these guys are brought in. Whoever is the coach will have a lot of work to do. Henne proved he is not the answer at QB, so they are either going to need to bring someone in, or start from scratch once again by drafting one. Most likely they are going to lose Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, so they will also have to deal with that.

Dolphins Sign Al Harris

Earlier this week the Packers made the surprise move of cutting Al Harris. He tore up his knee pretty bad last year (he tore the anterior cruciate ligament, the lateral collateral ligament, the IT band, the fibular collateral ligament and the lateral hamstring), and the Packers felt he was no longer a valuable asset. So, he finally cleared waivers and the Dolphins stepped in and signed the free agent.

It is unclear how much Al Harris will be able to play, and I am not completely sold that he will pass the physical to be able to join the team. Back in the day he was one of the better cover corners in the NFL, so I guess it is always worth a shot even if he can only play limited snaps.

Patriots 41, Dolphins 14

Interceptions, blocked kicks, blocked punts, and tons of returns for touchdowns. Was Troy Brown playing? This was just a very strange football game. Strange, but enjoyably so. When was the last time the Patriots defense and special teams made so many big plays?

It was nice that the defense made Chad Henne look like Chad Henne. I don't think I'm alone when I say that I was worried the D would make him look like Marino, just like they made Ryan Fitzpatrick look like Jim Kelly. At the same time, we shouldn't glorify the Patriots defense and special teams as being playmakers all on their own. The Dolphins contributed with their awful protection on special teams, and Chad Henne's very poor decision making.

But I'll take a divisional road win. And it was as close to a "must win" as you can get in Week 4. The Pats couldn't afford a second divisional loss. And if they hadn't won this road game, doubt may have festered in the Pats' locker room for two weeks.

What's kind of nice is that the Patriots didn't need Tom Brady, Randy Moss, or Wes Welker to have ridiculous games. BJG Ellis was arguably the best performer on the offense, with 76 yards in 16 carries (4.8 per carry), and a touchdown. Danny Woodhead had an eerily Kevin Faulk kind of performance with only 36 rushing yards, 11 receiving yards, but obviously much more than that. Because each of those yards were big. And that one reception he had was for a touchdown.

The offense didn't do much. They didn't have to. It really was all about the defense and special teams making big plays. But they made them by doing their job, and capitalizing on mistakes. That was very 2001-like. Ninkovich's interceptions came because he did his job in coverage, the ball found him, and he caught it. It's not complicated.

I didn't like Vince Wilfork being used as a defensive end. It gave the Dolphins license to run to the other side. And Wilfork was too distant from the point of attack to have any effect. I understand that the Pats are short of DEs. But that shortage shouldn't cause them to also be short of DTs. Wilfork in the middle at least forces the opposing running game further to the right or left. If Wilfork is on the end, half the field is open for a rushing attack.

Let's not get too high from this win. But it is nice, isn't it?

Pats have next weekend off, then host Baltimore on the 17th.

Oh yeah, Tom Brady's 100th (regular season) win as a starter. Fastest QB to 100 wins. Ever.

Patriots @ Dolphins Preview

This is a huge game for both teams. The Jets look like they are the real deal, and now Miami and New England are looking to keep pace. The Patriots have struggled on the road, and that could play right into the Dolphins hands, who have actually had pretty good success against them.

The obvious concern for the Patriots is their defense. They looked awful against the Bills, and I don't see it improving anytime soon. They have no one to rush the passer, and made Ryan Fitzpatrick look like Peyton Manning. The Patriots are going to have to find a way to keep Marshall under control, while also not losing focus on Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown.

The good news is that Brady is coming off one of his best games, and the Dolphins secondary is very questionable. Look for Welker and Moss to have big games, but I think it will be the TEs that have the biggest impact. Hernandez leads the team with 211 yards receiving on 13 catches, and Gronkowski has two touchdown receptions. You add that to the fact that the Dolphins let Minnesota's Visanthe Shiancoe have six catches for 86 yards against them, and the Jets' Dustin Keller had six catches for 98 yards and two scores. So if Brady spreads the ball around they should be able to score at will.

I think the Patriots will win tonight, but it's going to be damn close. I know they can score on them, but I have serious questions if they can stop anyone.

Patriots win 31-27
Player of the Game: Tom Brady/Aaron Hernandez
Game starts at 8:30pm on ESPN.

Dolphins Defense Gets Stronger

The Dolphins through 3 games has looked pretty good, but it's about to get stronger. Many thought Channing Crowder might be out for the season, now there is word that he might be back as early as this Monday Night vs. the Patriots.

"Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel tweeted Thursday that Crowder is on the practice field, being paired with fellow starting ILB Karlos Dansby. This is a good sign for his being active against the New England Patriots on Monday night, although he may rotate with Tim Dobbins if he's not 100 percent back. Either way, a massive boost for the defense as they prepare for their second night game against a division rival in as many weeks (ESPN)."

Huge game for the Dolphins as well as the Patriots, and if he is healthy at all I expect he will be out there. I still don't believe the Dolphins are a good team, but they usually play the Patriots tough, and New England's defense makes everyone look good, so this will be a very interesting game.

7. Chris McCoy, LB, 6-2, 245, Middle Tennessee
7. Austin Spitler, LB, 6-3, 234, Ohio State

Offense:
BMack has no faith in the former Michigan standout, but I like Chad Henne. He made strides last year to become a solid starting qb in the NFL and he will continue his campaign this year. Henne has a lot of weapons around him like Brandon Marshall (Who can make QBs like Kyle Orton and Jay Cutler look good) and a very strong backfield in Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Then there is always the Pat White factor, but I don't expect much from him. I think the addition of Brandon Marshall has been somewhat overlooked in the NFL, but he will make everyones job easier if he keeps his head on straight.

Defense:
I like their defensive line headed by Randy Starks and flanked by Jason Ferguson (once returning from suspension) and Paul Soliai. Also, their linebackers aren't too shabby also with Channing Crowder, Karlos Dansby and Akin Ayodele. Dansby should make Channings and Ayodele's life so much easier. I question their young secondary headed by Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, Yeremiah Bell and Tyrone Culver. But if that pass rush can get to the qb, it should help out this secondary.

Overall:
This is a team everyone is overlooking. I won't put them in the playoffs, but they make great strides to make it. 8-8

Brandon Marshall Going To NBA?

Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall says he has a fallback plan if NFL teams lock out players next year... He'll try out for the NBA. Marshall said he would audition for the Miami Heat or Denver Nuggets as a shooting guard.

"Right now I'm rusty," he said after Dolphins' practice Thursday. "Right now I'm no good. If I try out right now they'll be saying, 'What is this guy thinking?' But after some training I'll be fine. I'll be right back where I used to be."

The 6-foot-4 Marshall lettered in basketball three times at Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Fla (CBS).

Marshall seems like he would have the size and jumping ability to play, but I never know how seriously to take these quotes from athletes. Sure he is a freak, and I can see why a team would want him, but I just don't see him beating out guys who have been playing for their entire life. Then again, if you can just sign him for the minimum why not? I mean he should be able to pull down some boards, and he says his strong suit was his outside shot (which I thought was weird). Anyways, it's a slow day, and I hope Marshall tears his ACL during the tryout.

Maimi's GM Apologizes For Calling Dez Bryant Mom A Prostitute

Hahahahaha, I can't believe this is not a joke, but I have now read this on numerous sites. Apparently, while the Dolphins were interviewing Dez Bryant they eventually asked him if his mother is a prostitute. It turns out that it was Miami's GM Jeff Ireland, who had to issue release this statement...

"My job is to find out as much information as possible about a player that I'm considering drafting," Ireland said. "Sometimes that leads to asking in-depth questions. Having said that, I talked to Dez Bryant and told him I used poor judgment in one of the questions I asked him. I certainly meant no disrespect and apologized to him."

Wow. Yea, that's a question you need to ask a 3rd party or something, not this woman's son. Saying that, she must look like a train wreck for someone to ask a question like that. Dez Bryant obviously didn't take this very well...

"They asked me if my mom's a prostitute," Bryant told Yahoo.com. "No, my mom is not a prostitute. I got mad -- really mad -- but I didn't show it. I got a lot of questions like that: Does she still do drugs? I sat and answered all of them."

Bryant's mother, Angela, had him when she was 15 and conceived his younger sister and brother within the next three years. She reportedly sold drugs and served a prison term while Bryant was a child. Bryant lived with different relatives and family friends at various times during his upbringing.

I am trying to find a picture of her, but so far I have had no luck. If anyone finds one leave the link in the comment section.

Brandon Marshall To Dolphins

The Denver Broncos are trading wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick in next week's NFL draft and what league sources say is an additional second-round pick in 2011

This is an excellent signing for the Dolphins and is going to be an impact for the AFC East. I don't think this will put the Dolphins past the Jets, but they will certainly be a more competitive team. Chad Henne isn't a bad qb, and is certainly just as good as Kyle Orton.

This makes me wonder what the Patriots are going to do, because they have seen the Jets get significantly better and the Dolphins have just got better too. Meanwhile they have been twittling their thumbs all offseason. I know they have a lot of picks come draft time, but that won't help them this year.

Dolphins 22, Patriots 21

The Patriots haven't won in any place that didn't have "England" in its name. Their only "road" win came against the Buccaneers in London. The Patriots have traveled to and lost in Miami, Denver, New York, Indianapolis, and New Orleans.

In another extension of season long themes, the Patriots struggled in the Red Zone.

I'm hearing some people criticize the defense. I've been hearing it for weeks. And I'll concede that the Patriots don't have a "championship defense." That is, their defensive unit isn't going to smother an opponent, keep them under 20 points, and allow for the Patriots to win with field goals.

This travesty, and others like it, are the offense's fault. In the 4th quarter, the Patriots had 4 possessions. Two of them were 3 and outs, two of them ended with interceptions. The inability to run the ball with a lead in the 4th is an inexcusable liability. And Brady in the Red Zone is becoming a joke.

I don't want to see Laurence Maroney in a Patriot uniform again. Period. He sucks. He's so inconsistent, so unreliable. The running game is supposed to be the conservative foundation of an offense. The Patriots don't need a 1,000 yard rusher. They don't need Adrian Peterson or Cedric Benson. They don't need a show horse, they need a mule. Someone to CONSISTENTLY get 3 yards, maybe 4. Someone to make 3rd downs a manageable 5 yards. Maroney belongs on "Dancing With the Stars," not the Patriots roster.

Then there's Brady. I can't let him off the hook. He's forcing it. He isn't smooth, he isn't confident. Is it residue from the leg injury? Is it a lack of faith in the offense? Is it the single-dimensionality of Randy Moss? Is it the lack of the running game? It's all of the above. But it's his fault more than anything. Red Zone interceptions are a cardinal sin, and he's thrown two already this season.

It's time to make a move on Charlie Weis. Offer him $3 million, his own twinkie factory, anything. Weis or someone who can design a creative, aggressive, and UNPREDICTABLE offense. Opponents know what the Pats are doing before they do it. In the NFL, that's an unassailable advantage. It's like playing poker with a marked deck.

The Panthers come to town on Sunday, in what is sadly a must-win for the Pats, who lead the AFC East by a mere game.

Ronnie Brown Out For Year

Versatile running back Ronnie Brown was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced.

The move was first reported by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Dolphins' leading rusher was suffered a right foot injury in Sunday's victory over Tampa Bay.ESPN

This sucks for Miami whose whole offense revolved around Ronnie Brown. Now a lot of pressure goes on Chad Henne and Ricky Williams shoulders. Miami was already struggling this year, and weren't going anywhere so this shouldn't really affect their win/ loss record, but it will just make it a lot easier to stop them on offense.

Joey Porter Loses Job?

"On Saturday, the Miami Dolphins announced that Joey Porter would not be playing in Sunday's game due to a coach's decision. As of yesterday, we know that Fins coach Tony Sparano has his own code of omerta and that his locker room is like Las Vegas, according to the Palm Beach Post. "To me, what goes in our family, in that locker room, stays in that locker room," Sparano said following Sunday's win.

Multiple online pundits have claimed that perhaps Porter's mouth -- courtesy of alter-ego Peezy -- was now overshadowing his performance. There's also been speculation that following practice on Friday, instead of returning home to rest, Porter went out on the town, which was the direct cause of his demotion. The big issue here is Porter's role -- or lack thereof -- going forward. Charlie Anderson, the replacement starter, had six tackles and a sack while backup Cameron Wake also had a sack. On "Monday Night Countdown", senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen noted that he'd be surprised to see Porter crack the lineup again (ESPN)."

HAHAHAHAHAHA, oh man I love this. There are not many other players in the league that I hate more then Porter. He is a pain in the ass, and I am so sick of hearing his quotes every week about how he has a problem with one team or another. Hopefully, he will never start again, but I still bet that won't get him to keep his big mouth shut.

Ronnie Brown Injury Update

"Ronnie Brown stuck his head through the entrance of the Miami Dolphins dressing room Monday, tossed a pair of shoes toward his locker and disappeared. His arm is fine. His foot, not so good. The Dolphins' leading rusher and wildcat triggerman remained on crutches 24 hours after hurting his right foot during the Dolphins' 25-23 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. He's unlikely to play Thursday at Charlotte and could be sidelined much longer. "I can only tell you I'm still in the middle of gathering information," coach Tony Sparano said. "We've got to prepare for all the scenarios." The most likely scenario is that Brown will be replaced in the starting lineup in Charlotte by Ricky Williams, who came off the bench against the Buccaneers for his first 100-yard rushing game this season. The Dolphins initially said Brown hurt his ankle but listed the injury Monday as being to his foot. Either way it's a big loss - Brown is the Dolphins' leading rusher with 648 yards and eight touchdowns, and he takes the snap on most of the team's wildcat plays (Sportsline)."

Ronnie Brown has been having a nice year for himself. He is really the key to the offense, but I actually think Ricky Williams will do a fine job in place of him. Williams has kind of been overlooked all season, but he has some games when he really takes off. I have no faith in Henne though, but the Dolphins are good at keeping games close it is just too bad they don't have the talent to get over that hump.

Actually, I am a Patriots fan, so I am kind of happy they are mediocre.

Patriots 27, Dolphins 17

It wasn't perfect. It wasn't even that pretty, especially compared to their last two victories, but a division win is a division win. It's nice to be 2 full games up on the Jets, and 3 up on Miami. It's nice that when these teams play again in a few weeks, the Dolphins might already be out of the race. And it's nice when Jerry Porter finishes a game with 0 tackles.

What isn't nice is the Patriots' red zone offense. The big play offense is back, as demonstrated by Randy Moss' 71 yard touchdown reception. But the Pats' are 24th in red zone scoring efficiency at 46.7%. They were 50.8% last year with Matt Cassel at QB. It's great if you have Gostkowski on your fantasy team, not if you're a Pats fan.

3 more sub-40 yard field goals today. The Pats could have easily gone into half-time up 24-10. Instead it was only 16-10. This can't happen against the elite teams of the NFL. And the Pats' defense is solid, but it isn't a stand-alone unit that can win games by itself. It needs an offense that scored touchdowns.

But it was nice to see Adalius Thomas and Laurence Maroney have good games.

Monster game next Sunday night in Indy against the 8-0 Colts.

Dolphins Lose Will Allen For Season

"Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Allen is out for the season with a left knee injury. Allen hurt his anterior cruciate ligament in the third quarter of the Dolphins' loss to New Orleans and will require surgery, coach Tony Sparano said Monday. Allen has missed only one game since joining the Dolphins in 2006. He leads the team with two interceptions this year. He'll be replaced by 2009 first-round draft pick Vontae Davis, which means the Dolphins will start two rookie cornerbacks Sunday at the New York Jets. Second-round pick Sean Smith has been starting opposite Allen (ESPN)."

It is good that they have a 1st round pick to back him up, but still it is going to be real tough with 2 rookies in their backfield. The Dolphins play hard and will be in a lot of games, but they just don't have enough talent to do any real damage. At least they will have a shitload of rushing yards.
