Sidney Rice Has Hip Surgery

Sidney Rice will miss at least the first half of the season after undergoing hip surgery. You add this to Percy Harvin's severe migraines, and the Vikings offense is in a lot of trouble.

What is interesting about this story is that Rice hurt his hip in the NFC Championship Game, so why didn't he have this surgery in the offseason? If I was the Vikings I would be pissed, but then again they are the ones that should've told him he needs surgery.

With Rice out, and Harvin a big question mark Favre is going to have a hard time finding open receivers. The Vikings have got so desperate that they are about to sign Javon Walker, who hasn't done shit since 2006.

All I know is that this helps the Packers, and that makes me happy. Fuck Favre, Rodgers 4 Life.

Ugh, Raiders. Davis To Cut CB Hall and WR Walker

Boy that was quick. According to ESPN, Angered by the team's horrible 2-6 start, Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis asked his front office staff to explore the possibility of releasing several players, including cornerback DeAngelo Hall, according to multiple sources.
and
also to be cut is wide receiver Javon Walker, who received an $11 million signing bonus and a $1 million base salary this year, but he has only 13 catches in his first seven games with the Raiders. The other players on Davis' list are unknown.

The Raiders are in shambles and even though they are terrible isn't this a little too soon? I understand Walker and Hall aren't performing to the level they have in the past, but seriously? Look at your team Al Davis. Jemarcus Russell is the worst QB in the league and seems to go 2-34 every single game, the defense has been terrible and you can't blame anybody but yourself for this nightmare.

Javon Walker may not be picked up because he hasn't been into football for a couple of years and is really injury prone and has had many off field problems. As for Hall, he can still be a good coverage cornerback and if I were a team with a decimated secondary like New England or Dallas, I would definitely give him a look.

Other players that may be included in the cuts are WR Ronald Curry and S Michael Huff (who was an early first round pick).

Al Davis Talks Walker Out Of Retiring?

According to ESPN "Oakland Raiders receiver Javon Walker, struggling with his performance during training camp, told the team Thursday he intended to retire and offered to return his $11 million signing bonus. According to a source, Raiders owner Al Davis persuaded Walker to remain with the team".

This story is very interesting. First, because Walker was actually willing to just give back his signing bonus. How many athletes do you know that would do that willingly? Second, is the fact that Al Davis talked him out of it. This was a terrible signing, and Walker just seems to have a dark cloud over him (he was kidnapped and beat up earlier in the summer). On top of that he is struggling in camp. His knee is just not the same, and I really don't see him helping this team very much. Al Davis had a chance to get his contract off the books, but instead he gets him to come back. For Walker sake I hope he can get it together, but I don't see that happening, and Al Davis will be wishing he let him retire.

Javon Walker Gets Beat Up

Javon Walker was beat up badly and left for dead as his money and jewelery were robbed from him. The newly acquired Raider had his orbital part of his face smashed and there is no telling how that will effect his play this up coming season.

Javon Walker, Welcome to Raider Nation

In an attempt to make the lonely Raiders better, Javon Walker agreed to a 6 year, 55 million dollar deal. Jamarcus Russell has to be pumped especially after the departure of Jerry Porter. I am not saying this will put the Raiders over the top, But the addition of Walker is not only an improvement from Porter but a top wide reciever.... if healthy..
