The U Fires Randy Shannon Wrongly and is now targeting Jon Gruden

Randy Shannon may not have been winning as much as the U desired, but he was really changing the reputation of Miami in his time there. During Shannons time there he had 1 arrest and a 3rd best graduation rate. Something no one could have ever imagined from the U.

Now the school is rumored to target Jon Gruden and if they pull it off it will be a great signing for the school, however, it shows it's true colors of what it cares about, and that is winning.

Gruden would be able to out recruit probably most of the Florida schools figuring he has a bigger name and a shiny superbowl ring to show off when he goes on recruiting trips. Anyway, I believe they will get it done as the U will be willing to throw all the money in the world at him.

Who Will Be The Cowboys Coach Next Season?

So Wade Phillips has finally been fired, and for now Jason Garrett takes over though very few people he will actually keep that job going into next season. The only way I see him keeping the gig is if the Cowboys go undefeated the rest of the way (or close to it).

So who will be the Cowboys coach next season. There have been some big names floated around, which should come as no surprise with the way Jerry Jones throws around money. According to ESPN the favorite right now is John Fox, why? I have no idea, but I really don't think he would be a great fit. The Cowboys need someone that brings in a lot of respect, and will have no problem getting in players faces. That leads me to 2 guys... Bill Cowher, and Jon Gruden.

Cowher has to be the #1 coach on every teams list looking for a new coach. If he is ready to comeback there is really no one else you would want leading your team. He is a great defensive mind, has the respect of players and coaches around the league, and could rejuvenate the Cowboys fanbase. The question is whether or not Cowher would want to deal with Jerry Jones. He doesn't seem like a guy who would enjoy having someone looking over his shoulder all the time. Still, you have to think this would be Jones' guy.

Jon Gruden is the man. He has a ring, he is a great offensive mind. With all the weapons the Cowboys have on that side of the ball maybe Gruden could be the guy to put them to good use. He does seem very happy calling games on TV, but you know Jones has the money to throw around that could lead him out of the booth.

The only other guy I would go after is Jim Harbaugh.

ESPN Signs Gruden To Multiyear Deal

"ESPN "Monday Night Football" analyst and former longtime NFL coach Jon Gruden has agreed to a multiyear extension with the network. Gruden, who joined ESPN in September to replace Tony Kornheiser in the MNF booth, will also appear on ESPN's Super Bowl week and NFL Draft coverage, will call the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl and will serve as an analyst for ESPN Radio's 2010 Rose Bowl and BCS title game broadcasts, where he will again team with MNF play-by-play caller Mike Tirico.

"Working with Mike, [Ron Jaworski] and our entire Monday Night Football team is the most fun I have had in years, and I am fired up to make this long-term commitment to ESPN," Gruden said in a statement. "Monday Night Football is special and I look forward to remaining a part of it and continuing to call these great games (ESPN)."

With so many coaches on the hot seat I have to say this shocks me. I think Gruden is actually a very good coach, or at the very least a lot better then some of these guys that are holding jobs now. I guess if he is enjoying it then good for him, but he could be passing up jobs with teams like the Packers, Browns, Redskins, Bears, Panthers, ect....

Also, not sure how easy it is to get out of one of these contracts.

Gruden Joins Monday Night Football

"Jon Gruden intends to coach again, but until that day, the man known throughout the NFL as "Chucky" will get to sharpen his teeth in ESPN's "Monday Night Football" booth. Gruden will join play-by-play man Mike Tirico and analyst Ron Jaworski in September, replacing Tony Kornheiser (ESPN)."

Everyone seemed to hate Tony Kornheiser, and although he didn't bother me as much as he seemed to bother everyone else, he certainly was not good. Gruden should actually be entertaining, and he at least has football knowledge. I love Jaws in the crew, and hopefully the addition of Gruden will make MNF good again instead of everyone bitching about the commentating on Tuesday. Seems like it has been a while since they have been able to put together a good team. I think this would could be one of the better ones. Too bad it won't last long, since Gruden will be coaching again soon...

Jon Gruden Is A Scumbag

Well that is what Simeon Rice thinks anyways:
“How I feel personally? I could tell you that, too. I think he’s a scumbag,” Rice said. “I think he’s a scumbag personally. That’s when he’s telling you one thing and… You know what he told me? ‘Simeon you’ll be here in the next five years.’ I got injured [and] this man’s never said one word to me. I won a Super Bowl for you. I got 13 sacks, 12, 15 every year for you. I balled. I got injured [and] you let me go like it was nothing.”
Jon Gruden always has, and forever be the most overrated coach in the NFL. His Superbowl ring should have gone to Tony Dungy and he has done nothing productive in Tampa Bay, except coaching a disappointing team every year. Although Simeon Rice's opinions are obviously held from when he played in Tampa Bay, it is always funny when someone gets called a scumbag.

Jon Gruden To Notre Dame?

There is speculation that Jon Gruden may be the next Notre Dame coach, and even though Notre Dame called these rumors "ridiculous", it would be a great move by the program. All of us probably know that the Charlie Weis experiment isn't working in Notre Dame, it hasn't worked for a while now and they need a fresh face in their to actually lead their team instead of emptying out their cafeteria (fat joke). Gruden's tough guy personality may lose some veterans in the NFL, but college kids would thrive off the shit he is saying.

So Notre Dame, please listen to me. Get that pompous fat ass out off the head phones and get a real coach.

Jon Gruden Fired

Coach Jon Gruden and GM Bruce Allen have been let go from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This move was necessary due to the second half collapse that the Bucs had. Gruden has always been an overrated head coach in my eyes, and hasn't really done anything. He won a superbowl with TB, but it was with Tony Dungy's players. I expect Gruden to be snatched up quickly (Denver, Dallas). He was 57- 55 in TB.

A lot of people will disagree with this move, but I think it would be best for the franchise to move ahead.
