Jackie MacMullan Makes History

Jackie MacMullan won the Basketball Hall of Fame’s Curt Gowdy Media Award. I know probably no one cares, but I couldn't help myself from giving her a shout out. She is really one of the only respectable women writers for the NBA, and now is the first woman to receive this award. MacMullan is really up there with some of the best writers in Boston, and her coverage of the NBA has been nothing short of amazing. Her books on Bird/Magic, which is one of the most captivating stories ever in the NBA. Above that, it is just great to see a woman who really knows her shit. When she is on "Around The Horn" she is usually the best on the show. She has up to the minute updates, and is really one of the few reporters that I sit back and actually feel like I learned something.

Anyways, congratulations to Jackie MacMullan, you deserve it.

Brady Doesn't Have Broken Ribs?

"It seems fair to say Bill Belichick won't be invited to speak at any testimonials for Charley Casserly. The former GM, who now works for CBS, reported before the game on Sunday that Tom Brady had three broken ribs. Belichick mocked that report earlier today when appearing on WEEI.

"There's so much stuff out there that is so inaccurate that it's comical," Belichick said. "Who's been wrong more than Casserly? His percentage is like a meteorologist. ... He has no relationship with this team, less than zero.

"At least he put his name on it. I'll put my name on it, too. He's 100-percent wrong (Boston.com)."

Wow, not often you hear Belichick lash out at someone, but this rift between these too dates back to spygate. Anyways, the big new here is how hurt is Tom Brady. If his rips aren't broken, is the broken finger bogus too? Who knows with the Patriots. Honestly, I have given up trying to understand their injury reports. All I know is Brady will be on the field this weekend, and he better have his A game ready...

Mike Tyson's Punch Out (Reporter Edition)

"A scuffle erupted between Mike Tyson and a freelance photographer at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday, and both men were booked and released on suspicion of misdemeanor battery, police said. The former heavyweight boxing champion and photographer Tony Echevarria, 50, both want to press charges of misdemeanor battery against each other, police said.

Echevarria told police that Tyson struck him once, airport police spokesman Sgt. Jim Holcomb said. The photographer fell to the ground and was treated for a cut to his forehead at a hospital. Tyson's spokeswoman Tammy Brook said the boxer was passing through Los Angeles on his way from Europe to Las Vegas with his wife and 10-month-old child when he was attacked by an overly aggressive paparazzo. The 43-year-old acted in self-defense to protect his child, she said.

"There's a lot of different versions to this story and that's all going to come out later," Holcomb said. "Some witness statements support Tyson's version, others support the photographer's (FoxNews)."

Tyson was my childhood anti-hero. He was always a bad guy, but a bad guy you rooted for. I have always felt bad for Tyson, and I recently watched his movie. After watching it I have to say that he is such a liar it is hard to believe anything that comes out of his mouth. Still, I will side with Tyson here. The paparazzi are just out of control, and I would be damn pissed if the paparazzi was always around me and my family.

Anyways...how fucking lucky is this guy to be alive if Tyson actually attacked him??
