Ravens About To Make A Bunch Of Cuts

Although NFL teams can't make cuts till Thursday at 4pm there are already pretty sound reports that the Ravens are going to be making some serious changes to there roster.

The Ravens are expected to cut Willis McGahee, Kelly Gregg, Derrick Mason, and Todd Heap. McGahee isn't a surprise at all he is going to make over 6 million next year, and really just isn't worth it at all, especially since Ray Rice is the obvious #1 back.

Although Mason is getting older (37) he is still coming off a pretty productive year (61 passes for 802 yards and seven touchdowns), but with Boldin on the roster the Ravens needed to find a way to save some money.

Heap is also still productive (five touchdowns, 40 receptions and 599 yards last season), but he has a hard time staying on the field. As for Gregg, he is scheduled to make over $3 million, but most people think there is a good chance the Ravens resign him.

The Ravens were getting a bit older, so I can understand the changeover, but I do think this could hurt them next year. McGahee sucks, but Mason and Heap have been good players for this team and they could miss that production. It will be interesting to see who steps up and picks up the slack.

Correll Buckhalter Ready To Play This Week

Not only are the Broncos undefeated so far this season, now they are getting their top RB back...

"Broncos RB Correll Buckhalter (ankle) described himself as 90 percent healed and said he'll "definitely" play Monday night. Buckhalter returned to practice Wednesday and was again able to practice in full on Thursday. With Buckhalter back, it appears he and Knowshon Moreno will again share the backfield workload in Week 6 at San Diego (Sportsline)."

I think Buckhalter is a solid start this week vs. the Chargers. I have him and Mcgahee on my team, and I am starting Buckhalter over McGahee. Why? The Chargers defense is nothing special (plus McGahee is playing the Vikings), plus I like that Buckhalter is good at catching balls out of the backfield.

Willis McGahee Update

Baltimore Ravens running back Willis McGahee returned to his Baltimore home Monday after spending the night in a Pittsburgh hospital recovering from a helmet-to-helmet hit in the AFC Championship Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. ESPN

Obviously I was pumped when I saw the hit, and the ball come out, but as Willis McGahee and Ryan Clark lied lifeless my heart dropped. The game of football became more than a game for those minutes, and you were seriously worried about someones health. Clark was eventually able to get up, but McGahee continued to lie on the ground unable to get up by his own power. Many people say that the hit was a cheap shot, but I say it was a lucky hit. Earlier in the day we saw Dawkins do the same thing to Larry Fitzgerald and it didn't work because he didn't wrap his arms. In the case of Clark, he hit McGahee just right. But it is uplifting to hear that McGahee will make a full recovery.

You also have to feel bad for McGahee, this is his second terrible injury:

NFL Injury Updates

Here our the lastest updates for your fantasy teams...

Aaron Rodgers: He is going to play today. He has a great match up against the Falcons. I know he is an injury risk, but it is such a good match up it is probably worth the risk.

Matt Schaub: He is out, and in the hospital. Not sure why, it just says he is sick, but anyways he is just been a terrible disappointment.

Willis McGahee: He will play today, but he has a terrible match up against Tennessee. I would really try to stay away from this guy.

Brandon Lloyd: The Bears won't have him going this week. If you have him, drop him.

Brian Westbrook: He will play this week, and seems to be close to 100%. He practiced on Thursday and Friday.

Donovan McNabb: His chest contusion will not keep him from starting tonight. He is been great this year, and with Westbrook back he could be real dangerous.
