Scal Going To Bulls

Looks like with the empty roster spots available Scal will be headed to Chicago to be the Bulls cheerleader.

I don't know why Scal would be signed again, he averaged more fouls than points and rebounds and read on ESPN that he was rated the worst Celtics player in the history of the franchise. I was hoping that Scal was going to return to the Celtics bench as an assistant coach, I feel he was a good locker room guy. Either way, thanks Scal for the awful memories.

A Special Someone At The Celtics Dancers Final Audition

The Celtics Dancers final audition was held last night at the House of Blues. First off, the girls look amazing (don't worry I'll put a link below, so you can all check it out). Yet, that wasn't the only awesome thing going on there, as Scal was on hand.
If that wasn't good enough there are rumors that he is negotiations with the Celtics to come back (obviously for a lot less money). I don't know about you, but when I look at the end of the bench, and a bunch of guys that really won't play. I would rather see Scal, and his awesomeness on the sidelines then some other asshole.

Anyways, CLICK HERE if you want to see pics of the Celtics Dancers and Scal.

Newest Celtics Trade Rumor: Allen To Wizards (UPDATED)

I will say right now that if this happens I might have a heart attack, because if they pull off this trade the Celtics will be stacked!!!!

The rumor is Ray Allen, Brian Scalabrine and J.R. Giddens to the Wizards for Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison. Jamison is a beast on the offensive boards, which is one of the Celtics biggest weaknesses. On top of that you can replace Allen's scoring with Butler, which is nice. Another reason I love this deal is because Jamison wouldn't be traded to the Cavs, which has been rumored for much of the season.

I am very biased here since I am a huge Jamison fan, but I am also an Allen fan. If the Celtics are looking at winning it this year it is a great deal. We'll keep ya posted.

***UPDATE***

"There is no truth to either one of those," Ainge said. "I have had conversations with a lot of teams but those have never been discussed. There are a lot of things I would like to do but I don't feel a need to do something. I am always looking to upgrade the team, if possible (Boston.com)."

But he did add...

"It will probably heat up next week," Ainge said.

Scal Not A Happy Ginger

Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine has missed a good portion of the season due to a sprained ankle, which led to a sore back. Scalabrine blames a cameraman for the injuries.

"This is the first time I've ever sprained my ankle in my entire life," Scalabrine told Boston Herald. "I watched the film. He was 6 inches over the line, 6 inches that I needed to take the ball out of bounds. We're trained to use the space that we are allowed. I've taken the ball out of bounds probably 10,000 times in my life, and as long as you're behind that line I won't hit you. But if you're over that line, we're trained to use that space. I went back to pivot and go, and as I went back, his foot was right there."

Whatever floats your boat Scal. All likelihood is if you were playing you were probably taking minutes from someone I would rather see play. He is most likely never going to touch the court once Big Baby comes back. Scal had a valiant effort last yea when KG was out, but with Rasheed, Big Baby and Sheldon there isn't enough minutes for him.

Scalabrine Close To Returning

"Brian Scalabrine has been out nearly a week and a half due to an ankle injury, but he dressed last night for the Celtics' win, even though he didn't play.

"I think he's close," Doc Rivers told the Boston Globe.

Looking ahead, the Celtics could certainly use Scalabrine's contributions off the bench, now that Glen Davis is out six to eight weeks with a thumb injury (ESPN)."

I don't know how Scal is going to fit into the team this year, but he should be able to get some minutes while Big Baby is out. I like Scal, he plays hard, and is kind of an underrated defender. Don't get me wrong, he is not good, but you got to have a guy with Irish red hair somewhere on the team, right?

Scalabrine Injury Update

"During the last minute of the Celtics' loss to the Knicks last evening, Brian Scalabrine sprained his ankle. The Boston Herald reports he'll have x-rays today, and went back to Boston while the team moved on to Columbus. With the Celtics season opener less than a week away, it's possible Scalabrine's injury will keep him out for the start of the regular season. Since Scalabrine is expected to see time at both power and small forward this season, and Bill Walker is out til mid-November, expect the Celtics' overflow of shooting guards to backup Paul Pierce at small forward (ESPN)."

He won't miss much time, but I really don't see how Scal fits into the team this year. I know everyone says he sucks, and for the money he gets paid...yes he sucks, but he is not terrible. There will always be a part of me that feel bad for Scal, but I can't blame the Celtics, since they just have too much talent to have a guy like Scal eating minutes...

Celtics Get Daniels

"Free-agent guard Marquis Daniels has committed to signing with the Celtics, according to a league source. Daniels, 28, will receive the biannual exception contract worth $1.9 million, unless a sign-and-trade deal can be worked out with his former team, the Pacers.

Daniels, expected to be used as a backup for Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds last season for Indiana. The Pacers declined to exercise their option on Daniels, which would have been worth $7.3 million next season. Daniels, who started his career in Dallas, had also been talking with the Mavericks, Charlotte, Houston, New York, and Orlando. Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine has been mentioned as part of a possible sign-and-trade with the Pacers (Boston.com)."

Great move by the Celtics. I have been hearing that Tony Allen could be part of this deal also, which is great news by itself. The Celtics now have a backup for Allen and Pierce something that looked to be a big hole on their bench going into this season. I really like the way this team is being setup, and their bench is looking better and better. We'll have more on how this affect Big Baby later.

Another Rondo Trade Rumor

Seems like we are getting these daily now...

"Despite Danny Ainge's semi-denials about trading Rajon Rondo, another rumor sprouted overnight -- this one in Marc Spears' blog at BostonGlobe.com. Citing an Eastern Conference GM, the Globe reported that the proposed deal was Rondo and forward Brian Scalabrine to Memphis for guard Mike Conley and swingman Rudy Gay. But the report also pointed out that another GM who asked Ainge about Rondo was told Ainge didn't want to trade him (Ken Berger-sportsline)."

Once again no official word if this is true, but I have to say if there is smoke there is fire. The Celtics are at least going out there and finding out what Rondo is worth. I still think he will be on the Celtics next year, but this obviously shows that they are concerned they will not be able to bring him back (or "bad clubhouse guy?"). Get yourself ready, because I doubt this will be the last rumor we will be hearing.

Scal/Perkins To Play Tonight?

"The Celtics' frontcourt could be tested by the Orlando Magic in tonight's Game 5 of their second-round playoff series. Forward Brian Scalabrine missed the Celtics' morning shootaround because of illness, but could be available for the game (Boston.com)."

It sounds as if he will be able to battle past the illness and play tonight. I have to say that Scal has been amazing lately, and I am really impressed. His headband is awesome, and he really looks like he is straight out of some kind of old man beer league, but he is getting it done. In other news Perkins practiced today and looks to be a go for tonight...

Scalabrine Cleared To Play

"Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine has been cleared to practice with the team tomorrow and could play as soon as Thursday night, according to Celtics coach Doc Rivers. Scalabrine has suffered three concussions this season and has not played since Feb. 23 at Denver (Boston.com)."

Trust me I would love to write some good news for the Celtics today, but this is the best I can do. Scal will be back, so I guess at least there will be someone out there. Scal plays OK defense, so maybe he can help a little bit. At least he is better then Mikki Moore. OK, that's all I got, now I am off to get a voodoo doll and end Derrick Rose's career.

Scalabrine Returns To Practice

"Brian Scalabrine returned to Celtics practice today for the first time since sustaining a concussion in a Feb. 24 game. Scalabrine has not been cleared for full participation, but was able to take part in noncontact drills. "It's encouraging," Scalabrine said. "I got the go-ahead to go 5-on-0." Dr. Robert Cantu of Emerson Hospital approved the return after Scalabrine experienced eight successive days of workouts without concussion symptoms (Boston.com)."

Scal is going to be out for the Nets and Heat games, but he could be back against the Cleveland on Sunday. He has not been cleared yet, but if he is able to make it through a couple more practices he should be well on his way. I am not in any way a Scal fan, but some people think he can help the Celtics' bench play better defense. Though I don't agree, I don't see it hurting the Celtics, and with all the injuries the team has gone through it will be good to get as healthy as possible before the playoffs.

Scal To Miss More Time Than Expected

The news on Brian Scalabrine isn’t encouraging. He said he’s experiencing headaches since he started lifting weights, meaning he almost certainly won’t be making his April 1 return from post-concussion syndrome.

Okay, laugh it up, but I find this just a tad discouraging. The Celtics really need all the bench help they can get as they transcend into the Playoffs. Scal provides pretty good defense, and another person who can potentially hit an open jump shot from time to time not to mention a big body who can dish out fouls. As much as it pains me to say it, I hope Scal will be ready to contribute come Playoff time.

Scal Out Indefinitely

Two things. Who would have thought that Brian Scalabrine would be our first story of the day, and second, our big man depth is starting to scare me. Brian Scalabrine may have not been the best big man, but at least he was a big man. He found a way to be at the right spot at the right time and to bother shots. Scal being out indefinitely definitely puts another black cloud over the big man depth on the Celtics. As of right now we have KG, Perk, Moore, Baby and Leon. That just isn't enough. With Powe and Baby being terribly inconsistent on both ends of the court and who knows what we will get from Moore and Perk having 4 fouls by the end of the first quarter, that puts too much strain and pressure on KG. I would have loved to get a guy like Joe Smith, but everyone knows that isn't going to happen.

Scalabrine Injury Update

"Brian Scalabrine, who injured his neck during the Celtics' victory over the Nuggets last night, has been sent back to Boston for precautionary reasons. A source said he does not have a concussion but is suffering from concussion-like symptoms. Scalabrine was sidelined with a concussion earlier this season (Boston Globe)."

This has to be getting scary for Scal and the Celtics as he has had concussion problems in the past. As the Globe says he does not have a concussion, but there are obviously left over affects from previous concussions. Scal will be out for a couple games, and it looks like the Celtics are going to have to lean ever more on that thin bench.

Thoughts On The Sam Cassell Trade Via Brian Scalabrine

“Shut up. You guys are lying, right? I just thought he wasn’t here. . . . Where did they trade him to?”Told Sacramento, Scalabrine said, “What the (expletive) is that?”

Great!

Scal Is Growing On Me

This is Scalabrine’s fourth season with the Celtics. He, too, is a free agent in the sizzling summer of 2010, although he doesn’t see too many teams using their cap space to bring him aboard.

“It’s not going to be a difficult negotiation,’’ he said. “I’ll just go to Danny and say, ‘I don’t want to go anywhere else. Please re-sign me.’ If he says yes, that’d be great. If he says no, that’s when I’ll probably have to start begging.”

Listen, I'm not as forgiving as many Boston fans have been with Scal, but I have to admit this quote is pretty awesome.

Scal Has Concussion

"Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine was taken to New England Baptist Hospital after suffering a concussion at practice today, and coach Doc Rivers said he expects the forward to be out for an extended period of time (Boston Globe)."

I love chanting his name at the end of games as much as the next guy, but this has to be a good thing for the Celtics. Now they can give the young guys even more minutes, and we don't have to watch this waste of space play basketball for a while. It is awesome having an Irish guy on the Celtics, but it would be a lot better if he could actually play a little basketball. Stay home Scal, and keeping counting that money you don't deserve.

Brian Scalabrine Is a Humble Man

“It detracts from the focus. We are the Boston Celtics, and for the crowd to cheer for an individual takes away from our team and what we are trying to do. Let’s just say it’s not ubuntu. The way I see it, it takes away from what the Boston Celtics are trying to do, the focus that we have as a team, and how as a team we don’t believe in any individualism. We believe in believing as a team.”Boston.com

Scal cut the BS, you think you are the MVP of the team. When we were playing the Nuggets you could tell it took everything for him not to shoot that crucial three pointer. Not only has Scal gone from the dog house to the big house, he became a fan favorite.

Go figure.
