Stallworth Suspended for 2009 Season

"Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth has been suspended without pay for the 2009 season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy and its substance abuse policy, the league said Thursday (ESPN)."

Roger Goodell did the right thing here. This guy was reckless and got someone killed. He deserved a lot more jail time then he got, and I am glad someone finally stepped up and did something. Stallworth doesn't deserve to play football right now, and hopefully he will learn from his mistakes. What is comical is that Vick gets ripped apart daily, yet this guy killed a human being, and no one gives a shit... Odd world we live in.

If You Aren't Pissed Enough About The Stallworth Case

Suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth will be allowed to leave home confinement to train with a strength and conditioning coach, a judge ruled Tuesday.

At a morning hearing, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy granted a motion to modify the conditions of Stallworth's house arrest. The 28-year-old Stallworth, who pleaded guilty in June to DUI manslaughter, will now be allowed to train outside of his home with a coach five days a week in South Florida, according to court documents.

The motion, submitted by attorney Christopher Lyons, said Stallworth needed to train with a coach so he can "maintain an elevated degree of physical conditioning." ESPN

So this guy kills someone while being a little drunk and a little high, gets 30 days in prison, two days of house arrest (which means he will just party it up in his mansion) and now he gets to take a train to be conditioned. This just makes our court system look retarded and goes to prove if you have money, nothing bad will happen to you.

Stallworth Released From Jail

Well that was fast...

"Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth has been released from a Miami jail after serving 24 days for DUI manslaughter. His attorney, Christopher Lyons, says Stallworth was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early Friday (Sportsline)."

It is kind of fucked up to think about how much the public rips apart Vick, yet I bet no one will say boo about Stallworth. It is just funny where the priorities are. Don't get me wrong both are terrible people, but I just find that funny. Anyways, it is also fucked up that he only served 24 days in jail. If DP or I killed someone in a DUI crash we would not be seeing the light of day for at least 10 years. It really is bullshit...

Stallworth Suspended Indefinitely

Cleveland Browns receiver Donte' Stallworth was suspended by the NFL indefinitely without pay following his guilty plea to DUI manslaughter in the death of Mario Reyes, the league announced Thursday. Stallworth was sentenced in a Miami court Tuesday to 30 days in jail, a controversial ruling that drew a great deal of criticism. Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote a detailed letter to Stallworth explaining the stiff penalty levied by the league.

"The conduct reflected in your guilty plea resulted in the tragic loss of life and was inexcusable," Goodell wrote. "While the criminal justice system has determined the legal consequences of this incident, it is my responsibility as NFL commissioner to determine the appropriate league discipline for your actions, which have caused irreparable harm to the victim and his family, your club, your fellow players and the NFL (ESPN)."

Good for Goodell I think he got this one right. He stuck to his guns, and I don't expect to see Stallworth at all this season. Goodell is going to setup a meeting with Stallworth, and then they will announce the length of the suspension. It is good to see a league that holds its employees to a moral standard. Hopefully the players in the NFL will eventually wise up and stop being a bunch of thugs...

Stallworth Going To Jail

"Donte' Stallworth began serving a 30-day jail sentence Tuesday for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida, a punishment made possible by his cooperation with investigators and the fervent wish by the victim's family to put the matter behind them. Stallworth, 28, received the sentence after pleading guilty to a DUI manslaughter charge for striking and killing Mario Reyes while driving drunk March 14 in his black 2005 Bentley. The athlete also reached a confidential financial settlement with the family of the 59-year-old construction worker (Sportsline)."

This story really bothers me, because if this was any of us we would have been in jail for 15 years. The only reason I accept this at all is because the family of the victim was behind it, but in the end it was probably all about money. Goodell is going to need to step in here and suspended Stallworth for at least 6 games next season. If they are suspended players for DUIs and acting like idiots, then driving drunk and running over a guy should be met very harshly....

Open Mouth Insert Foot: Stallworth's Turn

"Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth said he flashed his car's headlights to warn a pedestrian before fatally striking a man in Miami Beach last month, according to a report released by police (ESPN)."

Every time I read this story it gets worse. First off it was bad enough, for what seemed like an accident, Stallworth killed a guy with his car. Then we found out he was drunk. Now on top of all that he comes out and gives his excuse that he flashed his lights. Are you kidding me?????

If you are able to flash your lights it means you could probably stopped. it also means that Stallworth saw this guy, so it wasn't like the guy just came out of no where. I always like Stallworth as a player, but this man is going away for a long time, and it really he seems like he deserves whatever he ends up getting.

Donte Stallworth Is Probably Going To Jail

WSVN-FOX 7 reported that Stallworth's blood alcohol level was 0.12 percent, which is over the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Miami Beach Detective Juan Sanchez said, "That has not been released or confirmed by us. They went with that story without confirming it with us.''

Sanchez added that although results of the toxicology report are due Friday, "we will not be releasing those results until we make an arrest.''

Uh Oh. Looks like Stallworth is probably going to be going to the slammer for some time. This isn't going to be a Charles Barkley 2 day stay, this is a 15 year type of deal.
