Jets Next On Hard Knocks

The New York Jets are the next up on HBO's Hard Knocks. It is a good choice. Rex Ryan should be entertaining, and then on top of that you have the star value of LT, Sanchez, Revis, ect. I really do love that show, and I'm looking forward to this season.

Saying that...I have to question 1 thing. Did LT know that the Jets were going to be on HBO before he signed with them. Not that it is a big deal either way, but he do know he is an ego maniac, so I wouldn't put it past him. I mean it seemed dead even between the Vikings and the Jets, and then he quickly signed. It could've been that he might have a chance to start, but I like my theory better.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see if this impacts the Jets season. The Bengals were the first team to be on Hard Knocks that actually improved on their record from the previous season.

2001 Ravens 12-4/10-6
2002 Cowboys 5-11/5-11
2007 Chiefs 9-7/4-12
2008 Cowboys 13-3/9-7
2009 Bengals 4-11-1/10-6

LT To The Jets

Well it looks like the Jets landed LT and now the known Patriot hater will play them twice a year. It's a good signing I guess and he will look good in a Jets uniform, however, if I were a Jets fan I would hate this. They released Thomas Jones who put up twice the statistics as LT and they are paying LT more than they would have had to pay Jones. I personally think they took a step back.

The decision makes sense to me for LT because he can at least compete with youngster Shonne Greene for playing time, and if he signed with the Vikings he would be an automatic back up to Adrian Peterson.

I still believe in LT, but I can be honest and tell you that is blind optimism.

Brees Lobbying For LT?

On Tuesday, Brees tweeted the following...

"I would love to get LT in the black and gold. Crazier things have happened."

This has started a lot of talk about whether or not the Saints would be interested in bringing in LT. Personally, I think this is fucking retarded. They have Bush, who is a pass catching RB with speed, and 2 other solid RBs in Thomas, and Bell. Why mess any of that up by bringing this piece of shit to your team? Sorry, that was a little overboard, but the Saints have a good thing going, why mess up that chemistry on offense?

LT should go to a team where he could be a nice complement to a solid runner. He has stated that he will only play for a contender, and as much as I hate to say it wouldn't the Packers make sense? They have been looking for a #2 to go along with Grant, and LT could give them a nice passing option out of the backfield. Just a thought, but I think it makes sense.

That's Right LT Cry Like A Bitch

Chargers Cut LaDainian Tomlinson

HAHAHAHA. You fucking queer.

Ok, now that is out of my system. I think most people knew this was coming. He is 30 and his numbers have been declining for a couple years now. He is one of the best RBs I have ever seen, but what does he have left in the tank. He will absolutely find a new team. DP seems to think he might swallow his pride and come to the Pats. I can't see this, he has just talked too much shit over the years, and LT is a very prideful guy. My best guess are teams like KC, Seattle, and Houston.

LaDainian Tomlinson To Retire?

"On pace for their third-lowest seasonal total for running back carries ever -- and going for a league-worst 3.1 yards for each of those carries -- the San Diego Chargers have clearly de-emphasized the ground game this season. Whenever an offense has that big of a disparity, one must wonder if it's the coach's scheme or the players. In the previous two years under Norv Turner, the Chargers still relied on the running game. Last season, they were middle of the pack in total yardage, carries and yards-per-carry; furthermore, in 2007, the team was seventh in both yardage and attempts, and eighth in YPC.

In other words, it's personnel, and the player on the chopping block appears to be LaDainian Tomlinson, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. After a bizarrely public feud with GM A.J. Smith this offseason, LT returned to the team, but with much smaller checks being deposited in his bank account. As the paper's Kevin Acee opines, LT "can no longer win games for [San Diego] (ESPN)."

I'll admit I bought into that whole bounce back season for LT, but it is obvious that he is just not the same player. I don't see him retiring, but I do think this is his last year with the Chargers. Some other team will take a chance on him, but he is coming to the end of his career, and I couldn't be happier...

FUCK YOU LT!!!

LT To Miss Week 3?

"The Chargers are unsure whether or not RB LaDainian Tomlinson can play against the Dolphins this week as he continues to recover from an ankle sprain. Tomlinson missed the club's Week 2 matchup vs. the Ravens, but the club didn't seem to miss him as they racked up over 450 total yards of offense, the strong majority of it through the air (ESPN)."

At this point who cares? It really is looking like LT is all done. Yes I bought into him having a comeback year, but Sproles is the much better player, and the Chargers showed they don't need him when they put up 450 yards on the usually strong Ravens defense. If I was them I wouldn't bring him back until he is 100%, then when comes back he should be the #2.

L.T. Should Not Start Anymore

The more and more I think about the more and more I believe Darren Sproles should be starting. For a couple reasons, L.T. has lost it. I really thought that he was going to have a monster year, but after seeing him take himself out against the Raiders for the end of the game really made me think, that this guy is not either a pressure player or just a flat out pussy. L.T. has continuously missed out on big games, and seems to have lost his explosive first step. Meanwhile, at 5'6 Darren Sproles is dying to have the ball in his hands anyway possible. He returns kicks, he is finishing out games (including play-off games) and I believe he is just flat out better at this point. This offseason when the Chargers thought about cutting or trading him, I thought they were crazy however, they might have been right.

Tomlinson To Lose Job?

"As the San Diego Chargers squeaked out a win over the Oakland Raiders on Monday night, they did it with LaDainian Tomlinson on the sideline following a rolled ankle. In fact, it was behind the play of understudy Darren Sproles that the team was able to upend their opponents. So what's the prognosis on Tomlinson? Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune noted that LaDainian was limping badly after the contest, but the running back did say, "It wasn't bad enough I couldn't play (ESPN)."

Watching that game last night you can just see that Sproles was the more affective back. I'll admit I bought into the whole rebound year for LT, but it looks like he is going to start really losing touches soon. I know it is week 1, but for fantasy owners this is something you are really going to want to keep an eye on.

LaDainian Tomlinson Staying Put

"LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers restructured the final three years of his contract in a deal that gives the team some needed cap room and it gives Tomlinson more job security." ESPN

This just stinks for me and my theories. Not being a Tomlinson fan, all of us would have loved to see the proud RB have to bite his pride and go to the Patriots. Or being in New Orleans, I would have loved to see him come here to make the most explosive offense of all time. As it turns out, he did the logical thing and stayed with the play-off bound Chargers. The Chargers window of greatness is closing, and Denver could be on their heels the next years to come. Tomlinson is a great regular season RB, and even though his stats have declined the past years, his stats are still better than 90 percent of the other running backs. This year will be his last year to shut up the critics and play through the pain and have a good play-offs. If he doesn't, he is gone next year.

L.T. To Pats

Now wouldn't this just be the pony's tail if that happened. L.T. may be one of the biggest critics of the Patriots today, and I would almost love to see him join because he would have to swallow his pride. If this did happen, then the Patriots would be in line for another 18-1 campaign. You know, because he wouldn't play in the superbowl.

L.T. To Saints

With L.T. getting his final restructure offer today, you have to ask yourself, what if he says no?

Well I will tell you. He will be cut and then go to the Saints. It makes perfect sense. Drew Brees has been campaigning for him for a while and the Saints are in need of an every down back. Imagine a Saints backfield with two of the most versatile backs in the NFL. Not only would they have the greatest offense maybe ever, but they would be a dark horse to represent the NFC in the Superbowl. Part of me thinks L.T. is still going to get cut, so remember where you heard this first.

Chargers' GM Talks with LT

"The ball was in A.J. Smith's court; this time, he went directly to LaDainian Tomlinson. Smith, the San Diego Chargers' general manager, called the star running back and had a 10-minute conversation Monday night in an effort to close the chapter on what had been a week long verbal saga (ESPN)."

This all started because there were rumors going around that the Chargers were going to cut LT, since they were happy with the way Darren Sproles played at the end of the season, and they could really use the cap space. The rumors got out of control and players started to weigh in...

"That [stuff] doesn't help bring a Super Bowl to San Diego ... And that [stuff] needs to stop, period. It needs to stop now. We're a team, upstairs and downstairs, no matter what," Merriman added, according to the newspaper. "This is a business, but if you address the situation publicly now you have turmoil. They're going to make decisions upstairs. But we've got to be a team (ESPN)."

Merriman is 100% right. The Chargers need to either cut/trade LT right now, or clear the air with him so he knows he is coming back. The better option is to cut or trade him. His stats have been declining year to year..

2006: 1815 5.2 28 TD
2007: 1474 4.7 15 TD
2008: 1110 3.8 11 TD

He his obviously still a very good player, but he is just not worth the cap hit that he costs the Chargers every year ($8.8 million). He also never seems to be able to play when it counts. In a salary cap league you sometimes have to make tough decisions like this, and they are just better off having Sproles be their guy, and spending that $8.8 million improving the rest of their team. The Chargers' GM has not handled this in the right way, but if he is going to keep LT, then this 10 min phone call is a step in the right direction.

Chargers Cutting LT?

"The San Diego Chargers appear to be bracing their fans for the possibility that LaDainian Tomlinson's brilliant eight-year run with the team could be over. According to the team's website, club president Dean Spanos called the star running back Thursday to discuss reports that the Chargers might part with Tomlinson, who has been slowed by injuries the past two postseasons and will count $8.8 million against the salary cap next year (Sportsline)."

This would be a real smart move by the Chargers. LT, as awesome as he was, he is not the same player anymore. The Chargers should cut him, and I don't think they will miss a step with Darren Sproles as their starting running back. It would also free up some money to improve other part of their team (defense?). Anyways, if I was them I would. Oh and how funny would it be if the Patriots picked him up after LT has come out and said how much he hates them? Good stuff...

LT Doubtful Against Steelers

At this point I would rather have had LT play than Darren Sproles, however, the Steelers have a stifling run defense and an even better pass defense. The Chargers will most likely have to pass the ball to be effective anyways, so the run game will be irrelevant on who they put back their. With Vincent Jackson being a distraction, and LT being injured that puts a lot of pressure on douchebag Phillip Rivers to win the game, which will be an extremely difficult task.

Tomlinson Hurt

San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson has a detached tendon that connects one of his adductor (groin) muscles to his pubic bone, according to team sources.

Oh this is a big surprise, the Chargers are already making excuses for when they lose to the Colts. Last year, Tomlinson barely played against the Patriots as he was injured. LT has been a great season RB but has tended to disappear in the play-offs. LT says he is going to try and play, however I doubt he will gain 40 yards total.
