Dez Bryant Ruled Ineligible

Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant has been ruled ineligible for violating an NCAA bylaw, the school announced Wednesday.
Griffin: OSU doomed

tim griffin Without receiver Dez Bryant, who has been ruled ineligible, it's hard to believe the Cowboys can legitimately challenge for their first Big 12 South Division title, writes Tm Griffin.
Bryant, an All-American who is ranked ninth overall on Mel Kiper Jr.'s most recent Big Board, was ruled ineligible after lying to the NCAA when he was asked if he had visited Deion Sanders' home and had worked out with him.
Oklahoma State is expected to file a formal appeal as soon as Thursday. ESPN

Of all the stupid rules the NCAA has this is the worst. All he did was chill at Deion Sanders house and work out. Sure he lied about it, but who cares? If you watch Dez play he looks like an NFL wide receiver already. He has the quickness, hands and speed to be a lock for an NFL stud. I don't know what the chances of Dez Bryant returning this year, but I hope he does.

How The Bigs Have Fallen

Yesterday was a day of surprises, upsets, and 4 hour games. UConn, Pitt, Oklahoma AND Kansas all fell yesterday. I'm not going to get into the UConn game because Wilde already took care of that but let me quickly touch on the other games.

74 West Virginia, 60 Pittsburgh

Offensively Pitt did not have it yesterday. Bob Huggins implemented a perfect game plan and with the scoring coming from Da'Sean Butler (16), Devin Ebanks (20), and Alex Ruoff (18), Pittsburgh didn't know how to respond. After West Virginia was able to get Blair into foul trouble this team didn't know how to step up. This makes me scared come tournament time, because the Panther rely to heavily on Blair and in the three games Blair has fouled out this year, Pitt is 0-3.

71 Oklahoma State, 70 Oklahoma

Big game James Anderson won the game on 2 free throws with 2.3 seconds to upend the overrated Sooners. Blake Griffen had a big game with 17 points and 19 rebounds, however, he was the one that fouled Anderson while tussling for a rebound. With this loss Oklahoma lost a chance to be a number 1 seed and possibly a number 2 seed in the impending tournament. Oklahoma is scaring me a lot with this late collapse, and will be very difficult to judge coming up.

71 Baylor, 64 Kansas

LaceDarius Dunn. Dunn is the reason for this upset as he dropped 24 points by drilling 6 3 pointers.

Exciting Night In College BBall

#8 Marquette 71 -- #22 Notre Dame 64

Jerel McNeal put the Golden Eagles on his shoulders and willed them to this impressive road victory. He dropped 27 points whule fellow senior Dominic James chipped in with a juicy stat line of his own: 15 pts, 9 rebs, and 5 asts. Luke Harangody played his usual solid game for the Irish (29 pts and 17 rebs) and once again received an embarrassing lack of help from his teammates. Kyle McAlarney shot just 3-12 FGs (1-6 3pt FG) and basically embodied the lackluster performance of his team in a nutshell. In a broader perspective, this game showed 2 teams going in different directions. ND has lost 4 games in a row, including 2 in a row at home after having won their previous 45. They are 2-5 this year against ranked opponents. Marquette on the other hand has won 10 in a row, and is undefeated in Big East play. A lot of the naysayers claim that MU hasn't beaten any quality opponents yet, but all I have to say to that is you play the games on your schedule. They have a tough upcoming month against the likes of Pitt, Louisville and Syracuse, so to be peaking now is a good sign for this veteran-led team. Personally, I think this game exposed ND as the sham they really are. To be 12-6 (now 12-7) heading into this game and still ranked in the Top 25 is inexcusable. Once again the media's infatuation with all things ND has spilled over from football into the basketball polls. Their schedule doesn't get much easier either, so look for them to fall back into mediocrity where they belong. Which is really a shame only because Harangody is the real deal, and a very fun player to watch. He has a future for sure.

#5 Oklahoma 89 -- Oklahoma St. 81

Don't fuck with Blake Griffin. Seriously. After being held to only 6 first-half points on 4 shot attempts (thanks to some harrassing defense by the Cowboys), B Griff blew up in the 2nd half. He finished with 26 pts and 19 rebs (1 more reb than the entire OSU team!), but his presence goes beyond the stats. He is very demoralizing to play against because he is so dominating down low. Excellent footwork, quickness, great hands and soft touch -- aka impossible to guard. Not to mention that his impressive strength forces inferior big men to eat up fouls as they try to prevent him from scoring easy baskets. This game was great to watch because about 3 minutes into the 2nd half both teams made some mutual agreement to not play defense anymore. OSU reminded me alot of the Phoenix Suns of a few years ago. They literally like to run the "7 seconds or less" offense, and if they haven't launched a 3-pointer within that timeframe, their offense goes into shambles. That being said, I gotta give them credit because they were making some rediculous shots to keep this game close, twice bringing it to within 2 points. But OU showed the grit of a championship caliber team by never surrendering the lead they held all game. Every time OSU got it close, the Sooners would slow it down and dump it back into B Griff. Sure OU is ranked 5th in the nation, but I still feel as though they are being overlooked by the "experts," most likely because they don't play in the Gay-C-C. The Sooners are a team to keep your eye on come tournament time, as they have the best big man in college basketball surrounded by veteran guards. And just to add to Blake Griffin's badass-ness, his older brother Taylor is the other starting F on the team. So fucking cool.

Note: Keep an eye on OSU freshman guard Keiton Page. He averages 10 pts a game coming off the bench, and he had 15 tonight. He is minuscule 5'10'' white guy but he is quick as shit and plays pretty good perimeter defense despite his height. And he hit some ballsy 3-pt bombs to keep the game interesting. Plus, his name is Keiton...I don't know how to even pronounce it.

42 Oregon, 31 Oklahoma State

This is my first big surprise of the bowl season this year. Oklahoma State has battled Big 12 teams all year, while Oregon had a pretty fluff Pac 10 schedule. If anything, I was way more confident about this game than a majority of the other bowl games. However, Oregon and quarterback Jeremiah Masoli stomped on my predictions. Masoli (who started the season as the third qb on the depth chart) ran all over the OK State defense for 106 yards and three touchdowns, while throwing for one more. OK State couldn't stop the run all game leading Oregon to amass 307 yards and 5 Tds. Meanwhile surprising quarterback Zac Robinson threw for 329 yards with 1 TD, but they couldn't get anything going on the ground. And look out for Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant set Holiday Bowl records with 13 catches for 167 yards I have a feeling his performance put him the elite WR's thatmay be in this year or next years draft.

College Football Picks

Today we have a flurry of great games, so I am going to pick a few and break them down and give you my prediction.

(1) Alabama vs Auburn

The only reason I am including this game is because they are rivals, and teams seem to have a better showing going against their rivals. However, Alabama has the most dangerous rushing attack in the SEC and expect a lot of Coffee and Ingram against a deep Auburn defensive line. Alabama's rushing, offensive line, defense, and quarterback are all better than Auburns so that is why this game should be won by the Tide and end the 6 game losing streak.

Bama 28-10

(3)Oklahoma vs (12)Oklahoma State

I know this pick is completely bias' due to my hatred for Oklahoma but I have a feeling. Oklahoma State comes in with outstanding runningback Kendall Hunter. Hunter finished with 102 yards for his fourth consecutive 100-yard game and ninth of the year. The sophomore has 1,434 yards overall -- leading the Big 12 -- and is fifth nationally with 130.36 yards per game. Also Zac Robinson has been playing mistake free football, and doesn't lose them games. If Hunter controls the game and Robinson manages it, this game could be won. Oklahoma will need to be contained, if OSU wants a shot.

35-31 OSU

(4) Florida vs (20) Florida State

I'm picking FSU for a couple reasons, and those reasons have nothing to do with football. (1) I hate Florida, (2) It gives me a reason to put a picture of Jenn Sterger up and (3) I despise Tim Tebow. Florida is a scary team and I really don't want them to play Alabama in the SEC championship because I believe they can beat the Tide. I think Florida State can make Tim Tebow scared and not let him play to the level he has been playing at. FSU is going to win this game for Bobby Bowden and to knock Florida off their high horse.

38-34 FSU

(23)Oregon vs (17) Oregon State

This game has a lot of implications because if Oregon State loses, it lets USC take the Pac 10. Oregon State comes in here without leading rusher Jacquizz Rodgers and that will absolutely kill Oregon States offense. If Oregon can play mistake free football, and contain a banged up Lyle Moevao, this upset could definitely possible.

35-21 Oregon

College Football Recap

27 (1) Alabama, 21 (16) LSU

This was an awesome game and definitely lived up to it's high expectations. After a rough start from Alabama, they were able to grind it out and win. Glen Coffee and John Parker Wilson were the catalysts to this victory in "Death Valley" John Parker Wilson threw for only 215 yards, but he had some big throws in crucial parts of the game. Glen Coffee ran for 126 yards and the game winning TD. As for LSU Jarrett Lee now has 13 picks on the year with 6 being returned for TDs. He is by far the worst QB in the country and it is time Les Miles goes to the backup Jefferson.

23 (3) Penn State, 24 Iowa

Sucks for Penn State. They had the easiest schedule on their way to the national championship, however they were caught in the vaunted "trap game" to Iowa. Darrell Clark had a terrible game going 9/23 with 1 pick. Iowa kept the game close for a majority of the game and were able to get in field goal position at the end and Daniel Murray was able to hit a 31 yarder to win the game.

20 (9) Oklahoma State, 56 (2) Texas Tech

Graham Harrell again put up video game numbers as he threw for 456 yards on 40/50 attempts with 6 TDs. 3 of those 6 TDs went to outstanding WR Michael Crabtree. I didn't respect Texas Tech that much until this game. They are a scary team and can get games out of control fast and actually play a little defense.

The Rest Of The Games

2 Texas Tech vs 9 Oklahoma State

I know this will be an emotional week for Texas Tech, but they will not stumble verse OK State. Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree cannot and will not be stopped today. I expect Tech to start fast making OK State have to play catch up and throw the ball and Zac Robinson is just not equipped for that.

Tech 35-21

(7)USC vs (21)Cal

This seems like the first big game USC has played since Ohio State, but this game should be a walk in the park for the Trojans. Sanchez and the rest of the fun bunch is too much for Cal to keep up with it. USC's defense incredibly talented and quick and will dominate this game.

And my unranked game is Kansas over Nebraska

Just because I wanted to use that picture, and I hate Nebraska

College Football Picks

(1) Texas vs (6) Oklahoma State

Last week I went against Texas and they screwed me. So this week I am going to pick them to beat the surprising Oklahoma State Cowboys. Colt McCoy is the best quarterback in the country and his stats are video game like. RB Chris Ogbonnaya not only has an awesome name but will be able to run over this Oklahoma State defense all day. I like Zac Robinson, but sorry you just aren't going to win this game but they keep it somewhat close.

Texas 35-28

(3)Penn State vs (9) Ohio State

Penn State all the way. Penn State has a better offense and a better defense. The big story will be the two QBs, PSU Darrell Clark and OSU Terrelle Pryor. Clark has been the biggest surprise in college football and has been able to run an unbelievable offense. Pryor on the other hand has been able to bring Ohio State back and ranked in the top ten, but he will not be enough to take this game.

Penn State 42-28

(7)Georgia vs (12) LSU

LSU needs to win this game and they know it. After getting embarrassed by Florida they need to win out and that starts with Georgia. It is at Tiger stadium and that will mean all the fans will be in their corner. Jarrett Lee has had an up and down season and will have to straighten out to beat a tough Georgia defense. I am not worried about LSU's defense stopping Knowshon Moreno even though he is averaging over 100 yards a game. Georgia's offensive line is their biggest weakness and look for LSU to take advantage of that.
LSU 21 to 10

(7)Texas Tech vs (23) Kansas

Tech easily. I hate Kansas and I don't think they should do well in football and for that reason alone I am picking Tech big.

Tech 42 to 7

28 Oklahoma State, 23 Missouri

Chase Daniels threw for 390 yards but had 3 picks in yet another upset in college football. Missouri was one of those teams who I thought were good but haven't taken them that seriously. Former K-State qb Zac Robinson was able to manage the game well as he threw for 215 yards and 2 TDs, while Kendall Hunter kept Missouri's defense on edge running for 154 yards.

Not only did Daniels crush his Heisman hopes, he made his team a "pretender"
