Remember a while ago when Roy Hibbert endorsed DChttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif. Remember when he made it so I was his father on facebook?
Well he's back at it and is now ranting and raving about us on Twitter like a good son should do.
He's the man and is a legend in our mind. When that other website is having a bunch of drunk kids putting their Viva La Fool signs everywhere, we have professional athletes checking on our site and telling us how awesome we are with an awesome plug.
So once again, Roy your the man, come to Boston we need a center.
For the past few days i've been talking with one of our new favorite athletes Ronnie Brewer of the Memphis Grizzlies (he got traded from the jazz). Anyways here's the convo:
Yesterday: Me: you coming to the Celtics next year Ronnie Ronnie: lol i dunno Me: you should come we need you now Ronnie:yall will b aight Me: How you liking Memphis Ronnie: yea its cool so far Me: word, alright, good luck with the rest of the season, remember Boston next year Ronnie: K
Today Ronnie: hey man who r u Me: just some token Celtics fan from Boston Me: I actually had a question for you? How come you think the Celtics will be alright? Ronnie: lol veterans Me: they make that big of a difference Ronnie: ur whole team has playoff experience Me: cool, I write for a sports website DuelingCouches.com check it out Ronnie: aight Ronnie: not bad, I like it. keep hatin on the yankees Me: yea, they are pretty gay Ronnie: lol Me: I'll talk to you later Ronnie Ronnie: k
So there you have it Ronnie Brewer of the Memphis Grizzlies loves DuelingCouches.com and thinks the Yankees are gay. He is officially in our Hall of Fame.
That's right, we have a new endorsement yet again. My girlfriend Alli has run into some awesome celebrities again and brought up DC. Last weekend she was at a Broadway show, 'Jersey Boys' and she texted me saying Bill and Hillary Clinton were in her row a few people down. I responded as follows: "Go over to them at intermission and try to get a pic with em. Tell them to check out Dueling Couches.com. And watch Bills hands". She performed all three of my wishes and Bill said "I'll check it out", Hillary smiled and nodded.
She said the two of them couldn't have been nicer and they even made some people who were taking pictures of them get outta the way so Alli could squeeze through and get a picture with them. I have never been more proud.
Our newest and possibly most famous endorsement came like a couple weeks ago, but I haven't been able to get the picture on until now. Drew Brees and I were eating dinner and the topic of Dueling Couches came up and I could tell he was into it. I am pretty sure he believes that DC is the best sporting blog on the internet. He also hinted that Dueling Couches is his inspiration to break Dan Marino's passing yards record.
So with that being said, Welcome to the Dueling Couches family Drew.
A week ago I was at the Po-Boy fest and I ran into Hugo the Hornet and some Hornet Cheerleaders. Although he didn't have much to say I told them about DuelingCouches.com and as I was getting their autographs someone happen to write "David is better than Bob" on it. I was shocked for a couple reasons: 1. How did they know our names? 2. How did they know I was better than Bob?
A refresher for anyone who doesn't know who Marie Leveau is: "Marie Leveau is a complicated and fascinating figure in New Orleans history. Though she is famous even today as one of the most powerful Voodoo priestesses who ever lived, few hard facts are known about her life. More"
Well, here in New Orleans she's buried in a local cemetery St. Louis cemetery #1), and people mark her tomb with X's or something ridiculous like that. Supposedly it brings them good luck from evil spirits or some voodoo thing. Here's a picture of her tomb:
But when I went there recently, I discovered that she's been advertising Duelingcouches.com (no one knows for how long). Many people may see this as a bad omen, but I see it as her making everything A-OKay.
On a side note, since I discovered this, the Celtics lost, a knife fell out of a stuffed tigers mouth(don't ask)tip down right next to my girlfriend's foot, our lights went out, and an accident happened right in front of my car yesterday. Has to be a coincidence. Right?
So, I was at the Homerun Derby yesterday with my kid brother and we were first in line for entrance to Yankee Stadium. We get in and race down to the wall along the first base side as my brother told me that's the best place for autographs. Well not only did only 1 All Star come over and sign stuff for the fans, but the only one that did was the one that knew the least amount of English.
Ichiro puts his glove down and walks over to the crowd, specifically right in front of my brother and myself. Everyone is screaming his name and holding out their baseballs and programs etc. And when he is signing my brothers baseball the following dialogue was exchanged:
Me: Yo Ichiro, your the man.
Ichiro: yes, ok, thank you thank you.
Me: Hey my buddies have this sports website, DuelingCouches.com that you should check out.
Ichiro: yes, ok thank you thank you.
Me: Yea man, check it out, Duelingcouches.com
Ichiro: yes, ok, thank you thank you.
And there you have it. The vast amount of honor within the future hall-of-famer made it impossible for him to say anything but, "yes, ok, thank you thank you" but i have no reason to believe he wont check out the site and love it.
Ichiro is one of the best pure hitters the game has ever seen, and now DC's newest endorsement.
Marcel Momplaisir was a former URI player and now is playing basketball overseas in Portugal and doing his best KG impersonation with 17 ppg 9 boards and almost 2 blocks. He loves Dueling Couches and here is the convo via AIM:
DP: u like it MM: its pretty cool MM: yeah its more honest MM: and good even though you made it lol DP: haha DP: and is bob gay DP: ? MM: well yeah but thats not news anymore
Our newest endorser is one of my all time favorite football players. Me and my boy Ginty have came to the conclusion that Cedric Humes is a top 5 football player of all time. In 2005, Humes had 11 TDs, and is my personal favorite V-tech runningback ever, and then on draft day he was drafted by my favorite team the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Here is the exclusive interview via facebook: DP:hey cedric, me and my boy started a sports blog www.duelingcouches.blogspot.com check it out and tell me what you think? thanks, Dave CH:I just went to ur website. I like it man. It keeps u up to date on the sport and has some funny stuff in it. Like the gayest Yankee picture ever. Haha. Keep doin ya thing!
No word whether Cedric will make it tonight or not. He was number 32
This is Aundrea McMurray: She loves DC and is the second DC Chick to endorse us. Best of all, I think she totally wants me. Too bad I got a wife. Here is what I got back from Chick of the Day yesterday via Facebook:
lol david, i dont know who you are but i think your great!!!! thank you for my spot on dueling couches, that was quite interesting to see....im a really busy person so please dont take it personal if it takes me a while to get back to you. but over all THANKS I LOVE IT!!!!
This is Charles Little, and he loves Dueling Couches: When it comes to high flying players, Charles definitely plays above the rim. In fact, his 43 inch vertical makes him the president of Daytons "Flight Club". This year, he was marred by injuries which only made him average 8 points per game, 2 down from his average last year. Anyways, here is the exclusive interview via Facebook: DP: Hey Charles, me and my boy started a sportsblog www.duelingcouches.blogspot.com tell me what you think and let me know?
thanks, Dave
CL:I like the site and the vision u working with....good shit
This is Houston's scoring machine Rob McKiver. A few years back when URI played Houston, and we sat behind the Houston bench and heckled them the whole game. One guy I didn't Heckle was Rob McKiver, the reason, I was sitting next to his mom and we had an unsaid agreement. Rob is now leading the 22-8 Houston Cougars to the tournament. Here is the convo via AIM:
RM: Who is this DP: dave pearce, i go to uri, me and my buddies heckled you a couple years ago DP: check out our sports blog http://duelingcouches.blogspot.com/ tell me what you think? RM: Das wassup yea das hot DP: good luk in the tourny RM: Ok thank u men ill check it later nice website
He did comment on whether he hated Bob or not, but I am pretty sure he does. If they now make the tourney, Rob's endorsement now means they are making it 2 rounds.
This is DeJuan Tribble, former Boston College cornerback, and projected to be picked in the first day of the draft.
He gave us another ringing endorsement the other day. He loves Dueling Couches so much that he is probably on it right now, because now is later, and he probably loves it.
Here is the exclusive interview via AIM:
DP: hey DeJuan DT: who is this DP: dave pearce, me and my boy started a sportsblog http://duelingcouches.blogspot.com/ check it out and tell me what you think? DT: ok i will check it out later DP:good luck in the draft DT: thanks
Our newest endorsement is definitely tied with the biggest we got, but way more arousing. Jenn Sterger, was one of our original Chicks of the Day and she is also included in E!'s Top 20 Hottest Women on the Internet and endorsed Dueling Couches yesterday. Here is the exclusive convo via facebook:
DP: Jenn, me and my buddy started a sportsblog http://duelingcouches.blogspot.com/ we already did a feature on you. we are wondering what you think of the site? thanks, Dave
JS: Good stuff.. Ill pass it around to my sports industry buddies.. :)
This is Bryant McAllister: He played for Duquesne, I remember vividly Bryant playing URI and Dropping about 36, and the single best performance I witnessed. Now he is in Germany tearing it up. This is the exclusive convo:
BM: Yo BM: who's this ? DP: dave, i announced uri games, when you tourched us DP: me and my boy created a blogspot DP: http://duelingcouches.blogspot.com/ DP: tell me what you think BM: aight this aint no virus or nothing is it ? lol BM: no, not at all DP: oh ok imma check it out DP: what you think of the site? BM: I like it , it reminds me of the music blog site I go too
Sounds like we have another great athlete on board.
That's right Dustin Hellenga loves Dueling Couches
BMack: at 6:12pm on February 15th, 2008 Hey man two of your old URI fans started a sports, and other stuff site...check it out and let me know what you think
Hellenga: at 1:12pm on February 18th, 2008 I like the site! Like T-Mack said, keep it updated. I was on it for an hour the other day. Ill send the link out to my people on facebook and myspace. Hope you guys are doing well!
Damn right Hellenga, and folks this is a special day, because this man is a legend. He has influenced so many of things that DP and I loved at URI. The first basketball game that DP and I ever went to, we decided that Hellenga would be a legend. His reckless three-pointers, his fiery attitude, and being able to actually hit a clutch shot. Here is a quick list of why Hellenga is the man (I am not even sure which ones are true anymore):
1. Fade-away Threes 2. Drinking ability 3. The fact that he woke DP up in the middle of the night to kill beers 4. Hellenga Slap (want to know what that’s like? Imagine that Hellenga is Bernie Mac, and you are everyone in that train station, watch video below) 5. He drinks beers by biting the side of the beer can 6. He only drinks Bud Diesels 7. After crossing half court there is a 48.7% chance he'll just launch a three from there 8. He once wrote to me that he should be coaching URI (damn right Hellenga) 9. The fact that he overrules Jim Baron
Roy Hibbert thinks that I am better than Bob. The evidence: Roy said to me "you a cool dude home boy." Via facebook off the record, Hibbert also said that Bob was a "huge queer."
Our first professional has given D.C. a huge endorsement. This man is a ex-Ram, ex-Clipper, and who is currently killing it in Russia; this man is non other than Dawan Robinson:
This is the convo via AIM: DP: yo dawan DP: its dave(40 hands) check out what me and a couple of my boys are doing with this sports blog and tell me what you think Dawan: who is this DP: http://duelingcouches.blogspot.com/ Dawan: ight Dawan: u guys are gunna get rich DP: u like it? Dawan: I liek it too DP: well there will be a dawan shout out tomorrow Dawan: I hope so Dawan: damn i want some luv too
Well another day, and another former URI icon stating his love (sort of) for Dueling Couches. That's right Jamael Lynch, here's what he had to say:
BMack: at 6:26pm on February 15th, 2008 Hey man two of your old fans started a website...let me know what you think
Jamael Lynch: wrote at 1:59am on Febuary 18th, 2008 lol. what is it really about though. is it like a comical sports sight? its hot though. just keep it upscaled and it will be big.
So im not excactly sure what he means by keeping it "upscaled", but hopefully that means he just wants more smut peddling like Roy Hibbert.
