Tiger Can't Bring Up the Rear

Tiger Woods has never won a major when trailing on the final day. Fact.

Why is the MSM so enthralled with today's Master's action using headlines like "He's Still Out There" (ESPN) and "Down But Not Out" (SI)? Let's face it, he is still out there and he's definitely not out but the odds of him winning are slim to none. The common theme in every major these days is Tiger vs. The Field. Well guess what? The Field is going to take it this time with barely a whimper out of the great one in red.

This is the worst thing possible for the sport. Golf needed Tiger to dominate in Augusta. They needed him to shoot 12 under on Saturday and put himself up 3 or 4 shots going into Sunday. Then they needed him to shoot another 12 under Today and win by 15 strokes. Instead, some no name is going to win the biggest tournament of the year for the second straight time. Now, casual fans like myself might have it on in the background today and we might read an article or two about it on Monday but our interest in golf for the rest of the year has been instantly relegated to somewhere between horse racing and Nascar.
