Roberts Signs 4 Year Deal

"Brian Roberts and the Baltimore Orioles are near agreement on a $40 million, four-year extension that could keep the second baseman with the team through the 2013 season (Sportsline)."

Brian Roberts has been a very good player for the Orioles, and has been since 2003. He is 31 years old, so he should have at least a couple more years left in him. Baltimore tried to deal him during the offseason to the Cubs, but were not happy with what they were going to get in return. Baltimore is not as far off as a lot of people think they are, and if they could add some more hitting to go along with all the young arms that will be coming up over the next 2-3 season, they would be the new Rays. Good signing for Baltimore, because you always need a veteran presence in your lineup.
