Nationals GM Under Investigation

Jim Bowden, the GM of the Washington Nationals is under FBI investigation in regards to possibly skimming money off the top of signing bonuses of Latin American players.
Apparently they are looking into the records of this guys work all the way back to 1994 when he was GM of the Reds. Bowden responded on Monday: 'I'm innocent of any wrongdoing," Bowden said. "Aside from that, no comment." (ESPN.com)

First of all, DC usually promotes the theory of innocent until proven guilty...but this quote leads me to believe this guy found some legal loophole that allowed him to make off with mucho denero. Like, since the signing was not on US soil it ok or some bullshit like that. But I mean come on, talk about beating around the bush. If you or I were accused of doing something this illegal and we knew we didn't do it, obviously we would have more to say than this.

I hope its not true though, for the sake of the game. God knows that the hardship the MLB has gone through is too much to bear a story like this becoming truth.
