NBA sources continued to say last night that 7-footer Mikki Moore will join the Celtics once he clears waivers today at 10 a.m.
The 11-year veteran, who played for the C's in 2002-03, was waived by Sacramento after the deadline last Thursday, meaning he doesn't clear the 48-hour business-day period until today. At that point, sources say Moore, who has a number of high-profile suitors, will select the Celts.
I like it. We can't afford to sit around and roll our thumbs and lose Moore, while waiting for Joe Smith. Mikki Moore is an energy player who is 7 feet. That is exactly what the Celtics need. He has a descent jump shot and can gobble some rebounds. If Joe Smith becomes available, hell, why not try to get him as well.
On other news, Stephon Marbury and the Knicks will meet today about a possible buy out. I would be happy with both Moore and Marbury joining the squad.
