Daily Red Sox Spring Training Update

- Penny threw live batting practice for the first time yesterday, and he said that he feels great. After a terrible 2008 season, it is good to see that Penny is feeling good.

"I felt great," said Penny. "Today, for me, answered a lot of questions, mentally and physically. I didn't know what to expect the first time going out there to face hitters, but everything felt great. "It's been awhile since I've been out there to pitch, my command wasn't where it normally is, but it wasn't bad. I had life on my fastball, felt a good rotation on my breaking ball. The splitter was a little erratic, but that will come later in spring (Boston.com)."

- Jonathan Papelbon also pitched live batting practice. They have slowed down Paps routine, so that they can make sure he is fresh for the season. Papelbon admitted earlier in spring training that he got run down at the end of last season. Watch for the Sox to try to give him more days off if the bullpen works out the way it looks like it will on paper.

- Reports are that Lars Anderson looks like a beast so far, and has been the toast of Spring Training. He will not make the team right away, but we should see him at some point this season and look for him to be a big part of the team in either 2010 or 2011.
