If the Bruins win tonight against the New Jersey devils, and Carolina loses to Tampa Bay, then the B's will be in the playoffs for the first time since 2004. Of course, this isn't very likely. New Jersey is one of the best teams in the East, and Carolina will probably roll over Tampa Bay. But the prospects for the Bruins making the post-season are good. Why? Because Ottawa has crapped the bed.
The Senators started the season 15-2, but since then have been just a little below .500. At the moment, Ottawa is a point ahead of the Bruins, but the Bruins have three games left, and Ottawa has two. The Bruins have one game remaining against the Sens, and they'll probably win that one.
Strangely enough, the Bruins' biggest threats to making the playoffs are Washington (in 9th place) and Carolina (in 3rd place, leading the SouthLEAST division by tie-breakers over the Caps). If Washington passes the Hurricanes, then they'll soar from 9th to 3rd in the Eastern Conference seeding, and Carolina will plummet to 9th. This would be fantastic because Washington is on fire and poses a much bigger threat.
The Bruins will probably make the playoffs once Ottawa's collapse is complete, but they might face the pussies from Montreal who call themselves the Canadiens. The B's haven't beaten Montreal in 8 tries this year, and a first round match-up with those diving twats will probably lead to a first round exit. But who knows, maybe the Bruins have been saving their wins against Montreal for the playoffs.
Tonight, defenseman Andrew Alberts makes his return to the ice after missing most of the season with a head injury. Marc Savard, however, remains out of the lineup.

The Commodore
