Versus is a wannabe TV station. They're trying to become the next sports channel (because ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports, local stations, NFL Network, NHL TV, NBA TV, ESPN News, ESPN Classic, Speed, Fox Soccer, College Sports, ESPNU, CBS, NBC, Fox, TNT, ABC, and TBS just don't offer enough sports). They have NHL games, and recently struck deals to air Mountain West and some Pac-10 college football.
When USC football was upset by Stanford, it was on Versus. This could have been a crowning moment for the struggling network. Think of all the people who tuned into Versus once their buddy called them and said "Those overrated USC fuckos are about to lose to a school with academic standards."
Then in the pinnacle moment of the game, when Stanford tied with a touchdown, and went ahead with an extra point, this happened...
How could you forget who had the ball? But maybe the moment was too thrilling for the play-by-play guy, and it was simply an honest mistake. But for the color commentator to get the score wrong, and think that Stanford needed an extra point TO TIE? That's just pathetic. Versus, pack it up, or change programming. We have enough sports stations.
