Brady Penny is now a free agent, after the Dodgers decided not to pick up his option today. ESPN is saying that LA did it because they needed to free up some money, but it's LA, and I don't buy that for a second (they are one of the largest markets). Penny had a terrible year, and on top of that, he was dealing with injury problems most of the year. Still, I see him being able to get a solid contract out on the open market. He is only 1 year removed from going 16-4 with a 3.03 ERA, but maybe LA knows that these shoulder problems aren't something that are going away. It'll be interesting to see if this move has something to do with LA going after Manny Ramirez...
Anyone else think it's odd that Pavano and Penny both were banging Alyssa Milano in 2005, and both had their options declined today?
