Well Lost fans, it has been a long wait, but the light is finally getting brighter at the end of the tunnel. This hasn't been confirmed 100%, but rumors keep swirling that Lost will return January 21, 2009. This is a Wednesday night (Lost aired on Thursday nights last year at 9pm) which was Lost's original night of the week when the show debuted in 2004. The shows regular hour is believed to be the 9-10pm timeslot, which means it will avoid going head to head with ratings beast American Idol. When it returns on the 21st, look for a three, yes I said three hour marathon starting at 8 pm that is a recap type episode, followed by back to back new hour long episodes.
This is the best news I have heard in a long time, life just suddenly seemed so much better. I could care less what day of the week Lost comes back, but I do like the 9pm slot, I hated that 10 time slot, it was just too late. The thing that hurts Lost ratings wise, is either you follow the show religiously, or you don't, it is very hard for new viewers to just start randomly watching, they would be totally clueless. Plus Lost has to be one of the top shows ever to be DVR'd, and I have read if one doesn't watch the recording within 24 hours, this is not factored into the ratings system. The Neilson Ratings are hoplessly outdated, but that is a story for another day. Still, it will be interesting what type of ratings Lost pulls down, at its zenith it was around 20 million, and bottomed out at around 13 million during the slow start of season three.
