So Who the Fuck is #1 Now?

In one of the most entertaining contests of the year, in any sport, #7 Texas Tech edged #1 Texas 39-33, thanks to an unreal Michael Crabtree TD catch with 0:01 on the clock. But this game, and others on Saturday, have spawned many more questions than answers.

As the college football season has unfolded week by week, the situation has gotten foggier and foggier. Alabama, Penn State, and Texas Tech clearly belong in the top 3 now, but in what order?

Then there's a bunch of 1 loss teams out there that "made statements" (I hate that cliche, but it fits here) on Saturday. #4 Oklahoma obliterated Nebraska 62-28 (it wasn't that close either, 49-14 at halftime), #5 USC shutout Washington 56-0, and #8 Florida put the #6 Bulldogs to sleep 49-10.

Shit's only going to get more confusing. Texas Tech hosts #9 Oklahoma State next Saturday. And in 3 weeks they face Oklahoma. The week after that, OU plays Oklahoma State. More fun, Alabama and Florida seem destined for collision in the SEC title game. This is gonna make for great watching, but these teams could take each other out of the race.

The winner in all of this is Penn State. All they have to do is beat Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan State. I'm kinda gonna be pissed if PSU gets a title shot because Texas Tech loses to Oklahoma or something. Penn State deserves to be there if they win out. The problem is, more than 2 teams will probably deserve a title shot.

The BCS has become a thrilling reality show with a pointlessly retarded method of determining the winner.

A few things that were made abundantly clear on Saturday:

The ACC and Big East are dreadful. Ball State deserves a BCS Bowl more than whoever these two conferences vomit out as champions.

The Pac-10 without USC would be the same as the ACC or Big East. It's a shit conference.

With their loss to Purdue, Michigan mathematically CANNOT be in a Bowl game this year. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I'm going to start a campaign to declare the winner of the Big XII South the National Champion, regardless of the outcome of the Big XII or National Championship games.
