Red Sox Rumors

Khalil Greene
There were rumors that he might be coming to the Sox in a deal that would send Coco Crisp to the Padres, but the Sox are denying these rumors. Greene is coming off a wrist injury (don't think we need anymore of those), and all reports I have read say they are 100% behind Jed Lowrie.

Mark Teixeira
The Angels are trying real hard to resign him, but Boras is his agent, and he will get him every dollar that is on the table. That means the Angels could be out bid, so the Sox have a chance. He would be a great addition to the Red Sox lineup, but most likely would be the end of Lowell's career in Boston (I don't see the Sox trading Youk).

Jarrod Saltalamacchia
The Sox have expressed injury, but it would most likely cost them Buchholz or Bowden. Even if the Sox trade for him, they may still sign Varitek for a year or too, because Salty is very raw defensively, and he could learn a thing or two from Varitek (defense only).

Taylor Teagarden
Less likely then Saltalamacchia, because the Rangers really want him to be their catcher of the future. Once again, if any trade happens it will have to include either Buchholz or Bowden. He is much better defensively, but have had a history of injury problems.

CC Sabathia
No, it's just not going to happen, but there are rumors he wants no part of the Yankees.

A.J. Burnett
He is now a free agent, but it is very unlikely the Sox go after him. He is just one of those guys that is too injury prone, and only plays well in contract years. Only reason he is on the radar is because John Henry is a big fan of him. Word is that he also wants no part of the Yankees either.

Paul Byrd
If the Sox don't make a major move (which is likely) there is a very good chance Byrd could be back as the 5th starter. He can eat up innings, and doesn't walk anyone. Perfect 5th starter.

Jake Peavy
Boston wants him, but they are very low on his list of where he wants to play. Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, and Chicago are the short list that Peavy likes, so unless Theo can make a pitch to change his mind, trading for him seems unlikely (he has a no trade clause).

Junichi Tazawa
As reported earlier in the week, there are rumors that the Sox have already made a contract offer to the 22 year old stud Japanese pitcher. I really think he is coming to Boston, but it will be interesting to see how much it will cost them, and how long it will take him to make it to the Sox starting rotation.

I'll let you know more as I hear it.
