- Ortiz was missing from practice today because he slept awkwardly on his left shoulder, and now is too sore to practice...gotta love it.
Here is what Francona had to say about it:
"I think tomorrow he'll be fine," said Francona. "Just his left shoulder, it's really not -- again, it's sore -- but it's not something that anybody has had concerns about or he needs to go get checked. Again, being February still, keeping him inside he can get his work done. Today's a quick day anyway, he can get things done inside."
- Pitchers pitched to live batter for the first time today. Everyone looked good, but Youk and Pedroia were said to have been the only ones to make solid contact against Beckett. Rumors are that Beckett looks like he is in top shape...good sign that he will bounce back from a sub-par 2008 season.
- So far so good with Penny, who looks in good shape, and so far has not experience any pains. If you look closely at him he is really no different then A.J. Burnett if you take away the 2008 season. So this could be real interesting to see how he can do.
