- Lugo came out and said that he will be the starting SS for the Red Sox this year. If he does not get the starting gig he may demand a trade according to the Boston Globe. Lugo still has 2 years left on his contract, and I don't seem them being able to trade him unless they eat his contract. I also don't seem him beating out Lowrie.
- As we said before Drew is bitching about his back, and it is the same pain he felt at the end of last season.
- Reports are saying that Ortiz is in the best shape of his career, and has even taken off 15-20 pounds this offseason. Hopefully he lost fat and not muscle.
- Smoltz is still pissed off at the Braves saying that the past few seasons the only reason he stayed was because of Bobby Cox. He said he hadn't felt "wanted" there in a long time. He won't be able to pitch for the Sox until at least June.
- Jason Bay was asked about where he thought he would hit in this Red Sox lineup and responded, "There are four or five guys that could hit third or fourth on other teams. I don't care. Whether you're hitting seventh, third, or fourth, you're going to get the same amount of RBI chances on this team. It's the last thing on my mind (Boston.com)."
- Michael Bowden is another guy who is getting rave reviews as he has added 10 pounds of pure muscle this offseason, and has even come with a new variation of his changeup.
- The rumbling out of the the Sox camp is that Bard will get another shot at catching the Wake this season. We all know what happened last time.....
- Is it just me or does Tek look a lot bigger this year....
Hopefully that is a good sign.
