Elton Brand's first season in Philadelphia is coming to an abrupt ending.
Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Thursday afternoon that Brand will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery Monday after a failed attempt to play through the injury.
This is terrible news for Philly. Elton Brand was supposed to but Philly over the top and push them to some contention in the East, however, this looks like one of the worst signings in NBA history. Brand signed a five-year deal worth nearly $80 million with Philadelphia in July, and he scored only 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 rebounds in less then 20 minutes. Brand was a terrible fit in Philly to begin with, the Sixers are an uptempo team, while Brand is a half court player. Brand has now managed to cost his team a ton of money, a coach, and now a year of terribleness.
