I said the in the preview that I had a bad feeling about this game, and I was right, even though the Bruins played really well till the 3rd period. Boston was up 2-1 going into the 3rd, but then let in 4 unanswered goals. Boston is now only 2 games up on the Sharks for the best record in the NHL.
Milan Lucic had a hell of a game scoring 2 goals in the first period, as the Bruins seemed to be able to crash the net against the Sharks. Their energy seemed to dwindle as the game went on, and you have to wonder if not having Ward, and Ryder hurt them (not to mention Sturm who is out for the year). Still, the Bruins had this game, and let it slip by when the Sharks turned up the heat. Boston is going to need to learn how to close games like this out, because when the playoffs come everyone is going to step up their game.
The Bruins should not be overly worried about losing this game, as they should get healthier before the playoffs start, and hopefully they will put it into another gear come crunch time. I bet with this loss you will start hearing a lot of Bruins fans talk about "adding another guy" in a trade, but all the trades I have heard they would have to give up a lot of young talent, so I hope they stay put.
