Mike D'Antoni Regrets Joining Knicks
"When the Bulls were looking for a coach before last season, Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf offered Mike D'Antoni a deal, but D'Antoni perceived it as lower than his asking price, and that was pretty much that: no real bartering or negotiation happened. D'Antoni eventually signed with the Knicks.
But the Bulls now have Derrick Rose, a point guard that would feast in D'Antoni's offense. In New York, Chris Duhon has underacheived, and D'Antoni has turned to Larry Hughes of all people to help run the offense. So as Adrian Wojnarowksi of Yahoo! Sports writes today, D'Antoni might be have a little regret over not taking the Chicago job.
"The Knicks are a mess, and league friends of D'Antoni believe he has deep regret for passing on Chicago for New York," he writes. "He let his ego and agent push him out of Phoenix, and let his desire for money over winning pass on Chicago (ESPN)."
He has no one to blame but himself. He took the money, and now he has to pay for it. The Knicks are terrible, and I still don't think Lebron is coming. There is some hope, since they will have a lot of money to play with after this season, but this is the Knicks, so I hope everyone gets ready for the Chris Bosh era in New York....
