Beckett Making Progress

Josh Beckett is beginning to make some progress in his attempt to return to the Red Sox rotation on Tuesday. Beckett threw 42 fastballs off a mound on Monday and will extend that number on Tuesday, throwing all of his pitches. On Saturday, he's expected to complete some sort of simulated game. After that, Beckett will get back to a schedule of throwing every five days but it is not known when he'll begin a rehab assignment.

He is still a couple weeks away from returning, but he seems to be progressing fine. Boston is going to play it very safe with Beckett, because there is a big difference between a healthy Beckett, and a slightly unhealthy Beckett. I actually think this whole injury will end up helping the Red Sox. Beckett's problem last year was that he got worn down by the time September came around. Hopefully with all this time off he will not fall into the same problem.

My guess is that he will be back before the 3rd week of July.
