Red Sox @ Rays Preview
Tonight we get to see what should be a great pitching matchup between Josh Beckett and Matt Garza. The question is what Beckett will we see...
Beckett looked like he could be making a serious runs at a Cy Young, but is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA and 10 home runs allowed in 18 1/3 innings over his last 3 starts. He's surrendered 22 homers this season, 12 of which have come in his last 4 outings. This is not good news when you are going against a guy like Carlos Pena who is batting .350 with 8 home runs and 19 RBIs over his last 11 games.
Garza is a Red Sox killer. I'll admit it, but Boston's lineup has been really good of late, and hopefully that carries over for tonight's game. Garza is 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA and 15 hits allowed in 28 2-3 innings over four starts versus Boston, which is amazing considering he is only 5-9 with a 4.39 ERA against all other opponents. We'll see if Boston can crack the code that is Garza.
Game starts at 7:08 on NESN and ESPN.
