Well I won't say this much, but...... It would be shocking if the Sox beat the Royals tonight.
The Sox face AL Cy Young Award candidate Zack Greinke for the first time this season. With Boston only having Paul Byrd on the mound this game could be over in a hurry.
Greinke, who has not started against Boston since April 5, 2007, is 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA in two outings versus the Red Sox. He'll be tested by a Sox lineup that is batting .322 and averaging 6.8 runs over its last 12 games. Still, on the season Grienke has an ERA of 2.14, and is flat out the best pitcher in the AL right now.
To make matters worse Byrd is 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA in seven starts against the Royals since the start of the 2006 season. Byrd has pitched better over his last two start, but he is really going to need the Sox offense to find a way to put up some runs again Grienke.
Game starts at 8:10 on NESN.
