"Notre Dame has settled on Brian Kelly as the man who can restore its faded glory, just as he turned Cincinnati into a national title contender. He's leaving behind an undefeated and upset Cincinnati team that didn't seem prepared to lose him despite rampant speculation that the job was his.
"He went for the money," receiver Mardy Gilyard told the Associated Press after Kelly told players of his decision, nearly three hours after the news broke. "I'm fairly disgusted with the situation, that they let it last this long (CBSSports)."
I am really torn about this. On one hand I think Kelly had to take this job. Coaching Notre Dame is way better then coaching Cincy. He'll get paid a shit load more, and if he somehow makes them good again he could be a legend. On the other hand, I don't believe Notre Dame can ever reach fans expectations again. They actually care about kids attending class and being smart, which is something Kelly is going to have to get used to now that he is not in Cincy. Kelly is going to have a tough time getting this school going again after losing their QB and best WR, but fans need to give this guy 4-5 years to build the program that he wants...
