First Half's Best in Show

C-Geovany Soto

Leads all catchers with 55 RBI’s in his first full season. He has been the backbone of the first place Cubs.
Understudy: Russell Martin

1B- Lance Berkman

The Big Puma is on a tear this season, 22 homers 70 RBI’s and batting a cool .348. Also stole 14 bases, a definite contender for NL MVP.
Understudy: Adrian Gonzalez

2B- Chase Utley

Tied for the Major League lead in homeruns (25) with teammate Ryan Howard. Utley is making a case for the NL MVP award to stay in Philly.
Understudy: Dan Uggla

3B- Chipper Jones

Chipper has been flirting with .400 all season, and showed that he still has the power with 18 homeruns. Although Chipper’s average has fallen to .375, he only has 40 strikeouts in 288 at bats.
Understudy: Alex Rodriguez

SS- Hanley Ramirez

In his third full season Hanlito is showing off his 5 tools. He is on pace for a 40-40 season, this is something we should start getting used to.
Understudy: SS is thin this year, Jose Reyes.

OF- Josh Hamilton

89 RBI’s at the break leads the majors. The Comeback Player of the Year would under mind what Hamilton has done so far. MVP sounds more appropriate.
Understudy: Carlos Lee

OF- Grady Sizemore

After getting off to a slow start, Sizemore quietly has 22 homeruns and 21 stolen bases. Good thing the Indians will be nowhere near the playoffs this year.
Understudy: Ryan Braun

OF- Carlos Quentin

The 25 year old, Stanford Alum has powered the white sox into first place in the AL central. Quentin has a team best 21 homeruns and 65 RBI’s.
Understudy: Milton Bradley

SP- Cliff Lee

Lee is 11-2 with a 2.43 ERA. After going 5-8 with an era north of 6, he has turned it around this season and has been the most consistent AL pitcher at the halfway point.
Understudy: Brandon Webb

SP- Tim Lincecum

Physical anomaly, he stands at 5’11, yet throws his fastball consistently at 96. Lincecum is 10-2 with a 2.66 ERA and will most likely start the all star game for the NL.
Understudy: Ervin Santana

RP- Carlos Marmol

One of the better relievers in all of baseball, Marmol has recorded 70 strikeouts through 51 innings this season.
Understudy: Matt Thornton

RP- J.P. Howell

Former starter turned reliever, J.P. Howell has been lights out for Tampa Bay. He is 6-0 out of the bullpen with a 2.73 ERA.
Understudy: Dan Wheeler

CP- Francisco Rodriguez

Only two homeruns in 39 innings of work. O yeah, he also leads the league with 35 saves.
