Thoughts On Manny Trade

I am so happy that this Manny fiasco is over, but at the same time I am sad to see my favorite Red Sox player of all-time head out of town. It had to be done, and they got a very good player in Jason Bay, but it hurts me that Manny will most likely be remember for his shenanigans and not his play. What he should've been remembered for is .315 BA, 274 HRs, 868 RBIs, 2 World Series rings and seemingly endless entertainment. Now if the Red Sox season falls apart he will be remembered as they guy who ruined the 2008 season, and possibly the chance at back-to-back championships.

Now that he is gone lets focus on Jason Bay. He is having as good, or better year than Manny Ramirez. Bay is batting .282 BA with 22 HRs and 68 RBIs. Now he will be in a better lineup, so that batting average and RBIs should improve. He also has a far superior glove, so the only question that really remains is if he will be able to handle the pressure of playing in Boston. If he can then we got one hell of a player for the rest of this year and all of 2009. We'll have to wait and see, but hopefully this injects some life into this team.
