Grant On His Way Out Of Green Bay?
"A report from Michael Lombardi of National Football Post indicates that the Green Bay Packers might not be pleased with Ryan Grant, and are on the lookout for his replacement. According to what sources told Lombardi, the team was "very aggressive" in asking about running backs leading up to the trade deadline this week. As we know, the team failed to complete a swap for a new running back. After the deadline had passed, Ahman Green was signed to a deal for the rest of the season (ESPN)."
Grant is yet to break 100 yards in any game. I like Grant a lot, but he has never lived up to the hype and I think it would be a good move to go out and at least get someone to split carries with him. Jackson was a bust, and Green is really old, so I don't know how much you can expect from him. So, in the offseason I expect the Packers to target an RB. Here is a quick list of guys who should be free agents...
Pierre Thomas
Leon Washington
Darren Sproles
Willie Parker
Jerious Norwood
LenDale White
I love Leon Washington, but I am still not sure if he is an every down back. If they were to cut Grant and sign like a White/Washington combo that could be a good mix of speed and power to compliment their great passing game. Still, first things first and they Packers main concern has to be that offensive line.
