Rajon Deal Still To Happen?
Although contract talks between point guard Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics hit a snag recently, negotiations are not dead. An extension could still be reached before Saturday's deadline, Rondo's agent, Bill Duffy, told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher on Tuesday.
Duffy also spoke with The Boston Globe Tuesday night and appeared optimistic about reaching a deal with Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge.
"Danny and I touched base before I came to Cleveland and Danny expressed a willingness to move a little bit," Duffy said. "Obviously we're going to entertain that. We've got four days here so we are going to see what transpires between now and then." ESPN
I really think that the Celtics are going to get this done. They know that Rondo is worth 10-13 million dollars now, but they also know he could very much be a max contract type of player come the end of the season. The Celtics must sign this kid, he will be a staple of the Celtics after the Big 3 is gone. Where do you find a playoff tested, championship caliber pg, who is 24? The answer is nowhere, so Danny, Wyc, etc, do what you need to do to get Rondo signed.
