NBA Previews: Los Angeles Lakers
Before you start reading this breakdown just know, that I hate the Lakers more than the Yankees and a lot of this stuff will be biased and some stuff flat out not true.
Offseason Moves
Let Trevor Ariza go, signed Ron Artest for five years, $34 million.
Re-signed Shannon Brown for two years, $4 million.
Re-signed Lamar Odom for four years, $33 million.
Breakdown:
Like always the Lakers have a great team on paper. They won the championship last year, and they have an extremely good team headed into this year. They still have Derek Fischer at point, Kobe at 2, Gasol at 4, and Bynum at 5. The biggest question is how Ron Artest is going to gel with this team. Ron Artest is a hell of a player but he is a loose canon. I wouldn't put it past him to absolutely destroy this team, I believe is too crazy to play on a Lakers team heavily run by Kobe Bryant. With that come jealousy, and when that comes to Ron Artest it normally means terrible things. Also, Andrew Bynum saw his minutes dwindle by the end of last year because he couldn't get his massive frame to play some damn defense or be effective. Bynum really needs to show something this year, because I have not been impressed by the young fella at all in his career. Another potential distraction is Lamar Odom getting married to a yeti. Let's put it this way, Reggie Bush's numbers have declined once Kim Kardashian came into the picture, will Odom's? We can all hope so.
