Phillies Sign Polanco

"The Phillies are on the verge of signing Placido Polanco as their new third baseman. Polanco is in Philadelphia for a physical today, and he's expected to sign a three-year, $18 million deal, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com. Polanco replaces Pedro Feliz, who became a free agent when the Phillies didn't pick up his option. Polanco was a gold glove second baseman with the Tigers, but he has played third base in the past (most recently one game in 2005). The Phillies plan to bat him second in the lineup (Danny Knobler - CBSSports)."

Nice signing by the Phillies. Usually you want more power from 3rd base, but the Phillies really don't need it with guys like Utley and Howard on the team Polanco's age (34) worries me a bit, but you can't argue against a guy who bats around .300 every year.
