The Sox are creeping back into the AL East race. They now only trail the Rays by 4 games, and the Yankees by 2 (they have also passed the Jays). These are the types of series the Sox need to take advantage of if they want to get back into the playoff picture. They took care of business last night.
It could be a little tougher tonight with Wakefield on the hill. He has been brutal this year with his 1-4 record and 6.02 ERA, but we have seen him struggle like this before and bounce back, so maybe tonight he can do the same.
The good news is the Sox are going playing against a below average pitcher in David Huff. There really isn't much that David Huff does right. He has a high ERA (6.08), only 2 wins on the season, and has only 22 K's in 53 1/3 innings. I guess the only thing he does well is throw strikes.
Bottom line is that Huff can't handle the Red Sox lineup and with guys like V-Mart on fire (.583 with 6 RBIs in last 7 days) the Sox should easily be able to roll over this guy, as long as the Wake doesn't get lit up.
Boston win 9-5
