Yesterday, Seattle skipper John McLaren got fire for having the worst team in baseball, and honestly, who couldn't see this coming. John led the Mariners to a league worst 25-47, 17½ games behind the first-place Los Angeles Angels in the west. I don't know what this team will do to right the ship because they have the talent of two front-line pitchers in Felix Hernandez and Eric Bedard, and also have Ichiro Suzuki who although does not have the extremely high batting average this year has stolen a million bases. There a rumors that Richie Sexson will get dumped soon, but that really will not make a difference when you still have bums like Carlos Silva(who they signed to a 50 million dollar deal last year) and Adrian Beltre on the team. Also, there are rumors the Bedard may be on the trading block as well. Jim Riggleman got promoted from bench coach, good luck.
If you ever saw the movie The Replacements, quicksand would be a good analogy for the Seattle Mariners.
