Boston's season came to an abrupt end Sunday, so outfielder Jason Bay is setting his sights on free agency rather than playing in the ALCS.
The Providence Journal said the Red Sox and Bay were close to a contract extension twice this season, but now it remains to be seen whether the team will try to retain him.ESPN
I really don't believe that Jason Bay will be back in a Red Sox uniform. He just makes me feel uneasy about the whole situation. I haven't seen any real emotion from the guy since joining the Sox and having Scott Boras as his agent makes me only think of Mark Teixeira and cry. Jason Bay had a hell of a year with hitting homeruns and RBI's and believe his contract demands are going to be outrageous. The big question this offseason will be, will the Red Sox remain conservative and get the no risk signings (Penny, Saito, Smoltz) or actually open up their wallets and make a splash?
