Lowell Has X-Ray On Ankle
"In his first at-bat, Lowell fouled a pitch off the inside of left ankle. He circled around the batter's and knelt over in pain. Terry Francona and athletic trainer Paul Lessard came out to check on him, but he stayed in for the remainder of the game. Afterward, his ankle still tender, Lowell felt nervous. Trainers tested pressure points around the ankle and decided to take x-rays. They came back negative. Lowell is sporting a mean bruise, but he plans on playing tomorrow as a designated hitter.
"I didn’t want to not get at-bats," Lowell said. "I figured if this was maybe June or something, I might have come out of the game. I think it’s important to try to get at-bats to be able to see pitches pretty good. "It’s better than something worse. I’ll just have to wear that guard now, and hopefully I don’t do it again (Boston.com)."
Doesn't sounds like anything serious, but this seems to happen to Lowell before the playoffs every year. The Sox are going to need everyone to stay healthy this offseason if they want to get through the Angels and Yankees...
