Steelers Lose Smith For Year

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith has been placed on injured reserve and is out for the season, the team said Wednesday.

Smith has a partial tear of the right rotator cuff, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton on Tuesday. He was said to be deciding whether to have shoulder surgery and was expected to meet with doctors on Wednesday to weigh his options.ESPN

This is huge figuring the Steelers are already without Troy Polomalu. Aaron Smith has been one of the most overlooked players on the Steelers defense. Smith fit perfectly into the Steelers 3-4 scheme. He is a great run stopper and this will hurt there defense who have been playing not up to par this season.
