Wakefield Is Done For The Season?

A season that included his first All-Star berth will end with Tim Wakefield being left off Boston's post-season roster, reports the Boston Globe.

The 43-year-old Wakefield has been bothered by a nerve injury in his back that has weakened his left leg. The knuckleballer lasted just three innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

"If I'm on the team, great. I'll give them everything I have, whether it's in relief or a start or whatever. If I'm not, I'll be the biggest cheerleader in the dugout," Wakefield said.

After getting lit up last night, it's difficult to see the guy pitch. I love him, but he needs to hang it up. It seems like after every outing he has to go on the DL. Sure he started the year on fire, however, he has been downright awful for the whole second half.
