88 Celtics, 80 Heat
So much for the new big three.
The old big three and company decided to show the kids in Miami how to play like a team and dominated for a majority of the game.
The only grip I had with this team is that they pissed a 19 point lead away, but whatever going against LeElbow, Wade and Bosh you figured it was going to end up being a close game. And it was a the Heat chipped the lead to 3 with under 2 minutes to play but Paul Pierce aka The Hero scored 11 of his 19 points in the 4th and Ray Allen hit a clutch 3 with 49 seconds left and finished with 20 points wouldn't let the Celtics lose.
Not enough could be said about the Celtics defense though, who really stole the show. Miami had 9 points in the 1st quarter and shot 26% FG in the first half and 37% FG for the game. They all played their role, understood the rotations and defensive assignments. Unbelievable.
You may see that Rondo only shot 2-9 and only had 4 points, but he had 17 assists and controlled the offense completely. When he was in the offense looked very fluent and of course was a tyrant on defense.
Shaq looked impressive first game, in 18 minutes he had 9 points and 7 rebounds. He seemed to know his role perfectly. But I can ultimately say that about everyone on the team for the exception of Jermaine O'Neal, who didn't do much offensively, but had a sound defensive game against Chris Bosh.
The Heat looked awkward to put it kindly. Every time they dribbled the ball up they were going iso and it just looked as if there was no chemistry. I know it's the first game of the season, but nothing gave me confidence about the Heat.
I don't see how they can possibly deal with big men. Joel Anthony isn't the answer and if they think they can get by with him, they are in for a long season.
