MLB Rumors

There isn't a lot of news out there, so I figured we will put this all in one post.

- The Tigers signed Brandon Inge to a two-year extension with a club option for 2013. He is a good guy to have around, because he can basically play every position, and still has some pop in his bat.

- According to recent rumors the Tigers, who were thought to be in the running for Beltre, are no longer interested, but will be focusing this energy on signing Adam Dunn instead.

- Bryce Harper makde his debut tonight. He batted seventh in his Arizona Fall League, and went 1-4 with two RBIs for the Scottsdale Scorpions, barely missing a grand slam when his final at-bat ended up as a two-run double.

- There were rumors Japanese shortstop Hiroyuki Nakajima would come over to the MLB this year, but according to Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker, this no longer looks likely.

- Former A's GM (Sandy Alderson) is reported to be the frontrunner for the Mets GM job. Logan White of the Dodgers, Josh Byrnes, Allard Baird of the Red Sox, Rick Hahn of the White Sox and Dana Brown of the Blue Jays are also candidates for the job, but as of today it looks like Sandy Alderson should get it.

- If the Jays sign DeMarlo Hale as their next manager, expect the Sox to go after former Brewers manager Ken Macha as their next bench coach.

- The Reds will most likely pick up the option for Jonny Gomes, which would allow them to bring back their entire outfield from last season.

- Former Mariners and Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin interviewed Wednesday for the vacancy with the Milwaukee Brewers.

- Zach Grienke is reported to be on the trade block, but it is noted that he has a no trade clause that includes 8-10 teams. There is no word on who those teams are, but something to keep in mind when reading rumors.

- Ken Macha could be the Red Sox next bench coach if DeMarlo Hale is hired as the manager of the Blue Jays.
