"While stopping short of an official announcement, Troy Percival admitted he won't throw another pitch in a major-league game. "I know that I can't really go out there and do it," the Rays' former closer told the Tampa Tribune (ESPN)."
Troy Percival is kind of flies under the radar when people discuss successful closers. He ends his career with 358 saves, which puts him at 8th all-time. It is sad to see his career end this way, but definitely not unexpected with all the injury problems he has over the past couple of years. I always like Percival, and though I don't think he is a Hall of Famer, he certainly deserves some credit for a hell of a career.
