Jays @ Red Sox Preview (Lineup Is In)

Beckett needs to come out tonight, and prove that he is the ace of this team. He certainly hasn't pitched like it lately. Beckett got hit hard on Sunday against the Yankees, getting tagged for 8 runs and nine hits including a career high 5 HRs in eight innings of an 8-4 loss. That performance came 5 days after Toronto roughed up Beckett for 7 runs and 9 hits (three of them HRs) in 5 1-3 innings, though the Red Sox eventually won 10-9. The right-hander had been 3-0 with a 1.61 ERA in his prior four outings.

Beckett will be going against Scott Richmond. The rookie right-hander is 0-3 with a 5.48 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 23 innings over his four outings since returning from right shoulder tendinitis, which landed him on the disabled list July 4-28. He's 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in two games against the Red Sox.

***UPDATE***

Looks like Ellsbury is fine, since he is in the lineup tonight. Here is how the rest of the lineup looks...

CF Ellsbury
2B Pedroia
1B Martinez
3B Youkilis
DH Ortiz
LF Bay
RF Drew
C Varitek
SS Gonzalez

Game starts at 7:10pm on NESN.
